As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the nuances of the entertainment industry, I must say that Junaid Khan‘s debut in Maharaj was a promising start, backed by his pedigree and raw talent. His honesty about his privileges is refreshing and a testament to his maturity.
Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan’s eldest son, has just started his acting career with Netflix’s Maharaj and has received positive reviews for his role. As a member of a family involved in films, Junaid acknowledged that he benefited from his famous last name (Aamir Khan) when it came to landing the part in Maharaj. Here’s more about what he shared during an interview with NDTV Yuva.
Occasionally, opportunities come my way, sometimes they don’t. In fact, I had given some auditions earlier for a role, but those didn’t materialize at that time. Yes, my father has indeed discussed it, so I can confirm that there might have been a possibility for me.
In his statement, a 31-year-old individual explained that when he auditioned for the role, Aamir Khan had shown interest in it. However, due to budget constraints and the movie’s predetermined vision, having a newcomer lead the film didn’t fit the plan. “Hence, I didn’t get the chance to star in that film… However, I must also acknowledge that if I wasn’t Aamir Khan’s son, I might not have been cast as Maharaj,” Junaid concluded.
Under the direction of Sidharth P Malhotra, produced by YRF Entertainment, the film “Maharaj” delved into the 1862 Maharaj Libel Case. Key roles were played by Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari. The historical drama was temporarily suspended by the Gujarat High Court following a petition submitted by members of the Vaishnavite Pustimargi sect who had concerns about how religious beliefs were portrayed in the movie.
On June 21st, the High Court removed the stay on the case and declared that Maharaj’s actions do not aim at the Vaishnav Pushtimarg sect. Coincidentally, the film became available on Netflix the same day. Shortly after, Sidharth spoke to TopMob exclusively and shared, “I pay my deepest respects to the judicial system for understanding and ruling in favor of what the film truly represents and our original intention.
Siddharth expressed his gratitude towards the judiciary for permitting the release of the movie, assuring there’s no offensive content in it. He hopes the public will offer it a fair evaluation, as the film has been crafted with genuine affection… If you don’t appreciate it, that’s acceptable. Criticism is welcomed, but please give it a chance first.
