In the upcoming movie, director Gareth Edwards and screenwriter David Koepp hint at the appearance of two freshly-evolved dinosaur species. This film, acting as a restart for the series following Jurassic World Dominion (2022), features Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, heading a team venturing into Earth’s equatorial zones teeming with dinosaurs to gather essential DNA for a groundbreaking medical discovery. As suggested in the trailers for Jurassic World Rebirth, the movie will introduce various new dinosaurs, among them a colossal lab-created monster.

In a recent conversation with Empire magazine, Edwards disclosed that the new dinosaur they are introducing is named Distortus Rex, often referred to as the D-Rex. While the creature is only fleetingly seen in previews, Edwards clarified that it has six limbs, an abundance of teeth, and an insatiable appetite. Here’s what he had to say about the D-Rex:

It’s as if the T-Rex was reimagined by H.R. Giger, and then a Rancor was involved in the resulting design. I find this concept quite appealing. I’m eager to purchase the toy version of it once it becomes available.

In addition to the D-Rex, another mutant dinosaur is set to make an appearance in “Jurassic World Rebirth”. This creature, known as Mutadons, is hinted by Koepp to be introduced in the film. These are described as a fusion of a pterosaur and a Raptor. Koepp further explains that Steven Spielberg played a role in creating these dinosaurs, detailing their origins below.

Ideas originated from my unusual mind. We noticed in certain earlier Jurassic World films that their genetic manipulations resulted in dinosaurs becoming larger, more aggressive, and terrifying. It struck us, myself and Steven, that not every experiment they conducted must have been successful.
