David Koepp, a seasoned screenwriter who often works with Steven Spielberg, recently hinted at an exciting development for the upcoming “Jurassic World Rebirth” movie (set to release in July by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment). This movie appears to include a storyline from the popular source material that hasn’t been filmed yet.

Koepp mentioned, “I re-read the two novels to help me get back into the right frame of mind,” he who is renowned for writing the screenplays for both the 1993 film Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel The Lost World. “We did borrow a few elements from them. There was a scene from the first book that we’d long desired to include in the original movie, but didn’t have time for. Now that we can use it, we were thrilled. However, revisiting that state of mind after 30 years – is it still enjoyable? Yes, absolutely! Dinosaurs are still exciting.

Incorporating scenes from the initial book into later films within the series isn’t a novel concept; it’s something that has been done before, like the T-rex attack at the waterfall in The Lost World and the Pterosaur “birdcage” sequence in Jurassic Park III. These are both instances of revisiting dinosaur territory. For now, we can only speculate about what Koepp reused for Rebirth, but fans have their own theories on that matter.

It’s clear that “Rebirth” is set five years following the events portrayed in “Jurassic World Dominion”. With the 21st century Earth proving too alien for survival, the collection of dinosaurs who escaped from Lockwood Manor are dwindling. The remaining ones are gathering in tropical sanctuaries situated near the Earth’s equator.

As a passionate admirer, it’s generally fine to let things carry on as they are, but the allure of human greed can be incredibly potent. On another note, if we’re talking about substances with immense power, the narrative revolves around a band of mercenaries, under the command of Zora Bennett, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, who are determined to secure valuable DNA specimens from colossal lizards. This prize is coveted by a pharmaceutical company, seeking to create an extraordinary cure for humanity’s ills.

Koepp shared with Variety that the first two films were among his most treasured experiences. “Steven suggested starting fresh, trying something completely new,” he recalled. “I thought that was a neat idea and began throwing around some concepts. We bounced ideas off each other like you do with friends, and sometimes they stick, often they don’t. There wasn’t any initial pressure; it was just the excitement of exploring our thoughts.
