As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both skate culture and anime, I can hardly contain my excitement for Kai Clements’ upcoming solo exhibition, Spirited Away! The fusion of two of my favorite worlds in the form of these hypnotic, all-blue Element Skateboards decks is nothing short of a dream come true.
As Kai Clements prepares for his upcoming solo exhibition of “Spirited Away,” set to open soon, he’s shared more details about the event. In collaboration with Element Skateboards, Clements has designed two captivating skate decks as part of the anticipated showcase.
Immersed in a striking, monochrome blue design, these decks also include a scarce silkscreen artwork as an extra feature. The decks are adorned with various shades of blue, while Clements’ distinctive fine-lined pattern twirls around the figure’s outline. A design similar to what Clements has been using for his Spirited Away collection can be found across the decks. The reverse side is entirely white and bears both Clements’ trademark and collaborative branding. Pay special attention to the intricate details shown in the gallery above.
According to a post on Instagram by Clements, the creation of Spirited Away has been a long-term project, promising to introduce an entirely fresh perspective to the artist’s body of work.
Visit the official Kai and Sunny website or the Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) in Los Angeles to purchase a collection, as “Spirited Away” – a series of 25 works by Clements – will be on display starting this Saturday, September 21, at the Main Gallery of CHG.
