Among the 2025 TV premieres that are scheduled for later in the year, only one stands out as having Katilin Morgan portraying the smartest character – this isn’t about It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Season 17 (though it could technically be included), but rather the highly-anticipated ABC series High Potential. With its suspenseful season finale, fans are eager to see how the writers will develop David Giuntoli’s enigmatic new antagonist.
However, we’re starting to get some initial insights into Season 2, due this autumn. It appears that a significant query from Season 1 might be resolved, though it’s unlikely to be linked directly to the storyline of our primary villain.
High Potential Will Explore The Backstory For Morgan And Ludo’s Relationship
During the brief first season, the series High Potential established a friendly, platonic bond between Kaitlin Olson’s character Morgan and Taran Killam’s character Luca. Despite being engaging to watch, there haven’t been many disclosed details about why they became a pair or why they parted ways, or much else for that matter.
According to showrunner Todd Harthan’s conversation with TVLine, we can expect more insights into Ludo’s past, particularly his connection with Morgan. In Harthan’s words:
It seems there’s a strong curiosity among the audience about the truth behind the events. I wonder if we could delve into their day when they first sat down to discuss the issues at hand. How did they arrive at their co-parenting plan? What factors influenced that decision? Now, it falls upon us to piece together this narrative.
It would be great if the showrunner and his team have a solid plan for what occurred, ensuring that the developments in Season 2 are thoughtful and not haphazard. However, I don’t believe Morgan and Ludo’s storyline needs an intricate backstory or breakup to succeed.
Instead, their relationship appears to be more like a quiet story of two people who found love, got married, experienced a wane in affection, and eventually parted ways, all without much fanfare or sensational incidents. It seems they’ve only hinted at minor complications, but nothing as dramatic as “Ludo was unfaithful with Morgan’s mother and had his best friend’s child,” or anything that would make for a daytime talk show scandal.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ludo were taken aback by anything other than a pleasant arrangement in their co-parenting deal, as he essentially functions as a stay-at-home dad during Morgan’s frequent trips. He never seems upset, even when she’s away for extended periods, and unless we consider Ludo’s unexpected breakdown, one might assume he’s stress-free. However, despite managing three children alone, he gives no indication of being stressed at all.
Here’s what else Todd Harthan shared:
We’ll definitely share the tale with you. As for what occurred between them, it seems we’ll unveil the answer to that this year.
If High Potential merely uncovers half of the events surrounding Morgan and Ludo’s separation initially, then I’ll be ready to voice my dissatisfaction. However, it seems that the storyline involving them will be continued at a later stage. This is typical for procedurals with ongoing narratives, I suppose.
No matter what happens, I’m eagerly anticipating the premiere of Season 2 for “High Potential”. If you can’t wait either, you can currently stream all episodes from Season 1 on Hulu by subscribing to their service.
