As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but draw parallels between this political race and a high-stakes multiplayer game. The late-night interviews and appearances are like our characters leveling up, gaining experience points, and honing their strategies.
Vice President Kamala Harris is adding a second CBS appearance to her schedule next week.
On Tuesday, it’s been confirmed that Harris will make an appearance as a guest on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.’ This will be her initial late-night talk since being named the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, and it marks her seventh time appearing on this particular show. Her last visit to the show was in March 2023.
On the following day after a scheduled interview with Harris on 60 Minutes, which will be aired on CBS, Stephen Colbert’s Late Show appearance takes place. The election special had initially extended an invitation to Republican nominee Donald Trump as well, but Trump later withdrew from the interview. Scott Pelley, who was supposed to speak with Trump, will discuss Trump’s decision not to appear during the broadcast. Instead of Trump, Bill Whitaker will interview Harris. (The 60 Minutes special is being aired on Monday instead of its usual Sunday slot due to an American Music Awards 50th anniversary special.)
Harris’ running partner, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, is set to appear on popular late-night shows next week. He’s scheduled to be on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” this coming Monday evening on ABC, marking his debut on any network late-night program. Additionally, he will feature in a special episode of “60 Minutes” on the same day.
