The web host responsible for managing and processing orders for Yeezy.com has taken down the brand’s website following Kanye West’s streetwear and footwear company reducing its online store to just one T-shirt displaying a swastika symbol associated with Nazis, as confirmed by a representative from the hosting platform.
Shopify, who manages the online store for Kanye West’s successful brand, informed The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that the brand breached their policies after adding a t-shirt featuring a swastika symbol.
As a dedicated Shopify user, I’d like to emphasize that every merchant on our platform is obliged to adhere to our rules. Unfortunately, this specific merchant failed to uphold the principles of genuine commerce and breached our terms, leading to their removal from Shopify.
As a devoted user, I was left in the dark when the representative from the platform failed to clarify which specific terms of Shopify’s service I supposedly violated. However, their terms clearly state that they have the right to restrict products or activities deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or offensive. On Sunday evening, Kanye West purchased advertising time during local Super Bowl broadcasts and showed a peculiar, brief advertisement for his brand near the end of the game. In the video, which appears to have been filmed by West himself using an iPhone’s front camera, he reclines in a dentist’s chair wearing sunglasses and flaunts his diamond-studded teeth. “I spent almost all my commercial money on these new teeth,” he remarks, showing off his blinged-out grill. “Once again I had to shoot it on an iPhone. Um… um… Visit Yeezy.com.
On Sunday evening, during the broadcast that reached a vast crowd, Yeezy.com showcased the anticipated clothing and music available for purchase in CD and vinyl format. However, by Monday morning, the only item for sale on Yeezy.com was a white T-shirt bearing a black swastika symbol, reminiscent of Nazi imagery, priced at $20.
On Tuesday morning, The Hollywood Reporter contacted a representative of Yeezy regarding the T-shirt and website, but didn’t receive a response right away.
More to come.
