Over the past 25 years, Kareena Kapoor Khan has played numerous cherished roles on screen that have captivated audiences. One of these unforgettable characters is Geet from Jab We Met, which happens to be Kareena’s personal favorite too. She recently mentioned that Geet’s impact continues to echo in Indian pop culture today.
At the latest NDTV World Summit, Kareena Kapoor Khan was queried about her preferred role among those she’s portrayed over a 25-year acting career. In reply, she shared fond memories of playing the character Geet from Jab We Met.
Kareena explained, “She embodies a particular Punjabi spirit and a young woman with ambitions who dares to dream grandly and listen to her heart. I believe that’s why the character, even after 20-25 years, continues to echo in popular Indian culture.
Additionally, she pointed out that global viewers appreciate Indian movies as they remain faithful to their cultural roots. Bebo revealed her excitement for the musical numbers. Furthermore, she expressed that while there’s a variety of international cinema, there seems to be a special fondness for the Naatu Naatu performance at the Oscars.
In 2007, the romantic comedy “Jab We Met” featuring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor was released, with Imtiaz Ali at the helm. This beloved film made a comeback on the big screen in September 2024 for the Kareena Kapoor Khan Film Festival, which was specially organized to celebrate her 25 years in Bollywood. The movie event took place between September 20 and 27, 2024. Not only was Jab We Met screened, but also other well-known films of Kareena such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Aśoka, Chameli, and Omkara were replayed in cinemas.
Kareena’s latest film, titled “The Buckingham Murders,” hit theaters on September 13. This crime-thriller is helmed by director Hansal Mehta and will soon be available for streaming on Netflix. Upcoming for Kareena is another movie called “Singham Again.
In a joyous celebration, Kareena Kapoor Khan commemorated her 12th wedding anniversary with husband Saif Ali Khan on October 16 at the Pataudi Palace in Delhi. Their two sons, Taimur and Jeh, were also present to share in the festivities.
