As a die-hard movie buff with a penchant for keeping track of every release and casting update, I can confidently say that I am beyond excited about Mike Flanagan’s upcoming film “The Life of Chuck” hitting the big screen in 2025. And what makes this anticipation even more palpable is the return of Karen Gillan to the silver screen following her starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 just last year.
Gillan, a seasoned actor known for her roles in Doctor Who and Douglas is Cancelled, has been keeping busy with various projects while also welcoming a new addition to her family – a precious little girl named Clementine. It’s truly amazing how she managed to make an adorable debut on Instagram while also producing a film, let alone juggling all those responsibilities!
One thing that particularly intrigued me is the upcoming release of Jumanji 4 in 2026. With Karen Gillan portraying the beloved character Ruby Roundhouse, I can’t help but wonder if the birth of Clementine will prompt her to take a brief hiatus from filming. After all, parenthood is an adventure in itself and one that requires all hands on deck!
In any case, I couldn’t be happier for Karen Gillan and her husband Nick Kocher as they embark on this new journey together with their daughter Clementine. The world will surely fall in love with the adorable little girl, just like we did with Karen when she first burst onto our screens as Amy Pond in Doctor Who.
And finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I can’t wait to see Karen Gillan’s incredible acting skills on display once again in The Life of Chuck and Douglas is Cancelled. For those eager to catch up on the latter series, fear not! ITVX currently streams the entire series, with BritBox set to follow suit starting March 6, 2025. Mark your calendars, folks!
2025 marks the anticipated premiere of Mike Flanagan’s movie “The Life of Chuck”, which will also bring back actress Karen Gillan to the big screen. Notably, her last significant film appearance was in the 2023 release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”.
It’s only fair to mention that due to her hectic schedule, the accomplished Doctor Who actress has been quite occupied – working on other projects and welcoming a new baby girl, Clementine, into her life. This recent event was beautifully captured on Karen Gillan’s Instagram. Notably, this timing allowed her to make an amusing reference to Daniel Day-Lewis, joking that he should take note as she has now joined the exclusive club of method actors who live their roles!
It’s due to the fact that while Gillan was working on the film “Let’s Have Kids!”, she discovered about Ms. Clementine: this is evident in the slides below.

During the September 2024 premiere of “The Life of Chuck” at TIFF, it was Karen Gillan’s pregnancy that made its debut to the world, although due to celebrities being able to keep such secrets private, this news was revealed to the public rather late in the day.
It seems that by the time Ms. Gillan and her husband Nick Kocher chose to share the news with us; they had already chosen the fantastic “Best Dad/Mom Ever” mugs which they displayed in the previous post. This only adds to my admiration for this joyful family on their new arrival, as it’s quite remarkable that amidst the process of creating a new life, they were able to recall where those items were stored – truly a magical feat!
As a devoted fan of Karen Gillan’s acting career, I find myself eagerly awaiting updates about her upcoming projects. With the announced release date for “Jumanji 4” in 2026, it raises an interesting question: Will we see the return of Ruby Roundhouse to the Jumanji universe?
Having followed Karen’s career since her days on Doctor Who, I can confidently say that she has a knack for bringing characters to life. The success of the legacy-quels directed by Jake Kasdan certainly speaks for itself, and I have no doubt that Karen would deliver another outstanding performance if she were to rejoin the cast.
However, I also understand that life takes unexpected turns, and Karen is currently expecting her first child with her husband, musician Robin Richardson. Becoming a mother is an incredible journey, and I believe it might be wise for her to take some time off from acting to focus on this new chapter in her life. After all, parenthood is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that should not be rushed or neglected.
In conclusion, while I am excited about the possibility of Karen reprising her role as Ruby Roundhouse in “Jumanji 4,” I also believe it would be perfectly reasonable for her to take a break from acting to embrace motherhood. Either way, I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this talented actress and her growing family!
The future remains uncertain, yet isn’t that a delightful aspect of parenthood? A fresh life is now being played, with you as one of, if not the primary, individuals responsible for its nurturing. Memories will be crafted, cringe-worthy tales accumulated, and affection extended to everyone embarking on this adventure. In that spirit, we at TopMob extend our warmest congratulations to Karen Gillan and her husband Nick Kocher, as they welcome their new traveler Clementine into the world.
As a long-time fan of Karen Gillan and her captivating performances, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of “Douglas is Cancelled.” Luckily for me (and fellow fans), ITVX currently offers the chance to stream the entire series, providing a convenient way to catch up on all the drama and suspense. For those without access to ITVX, fear not! BritBox will begin streaming the series starting March 6, 2025.
Another exciting addition to my movie calendar is “The Life of Chuck,” the upcoming Stephen King adaptation. As a lifelong fan of King’s work, I can hardly wait for May 30, 2025, when this chilling tale will hit theaters and streaming platforms. It’s always a thrill to see masterful storytelling brought to life on screen, especially by such a talented cast and crew.
Between these two exciting releases, my entertainment schedule is looking pretty packed! I can hardly wait to lose myself in the world of “Douglas is Cancelled” and be left on the edge of my seat with “The Life of Chuck.
