With their electrifying chemistry from that 2022 episode of Saturday Night Live still fresh in our memories, it’s safe to say that this upcoming untitled R-rated comedy is destined for greatness.
Keke Palmer and SZA will soon be sharing the screen again.
On Friday, Sony Pictures revealed that an as-yet-unnamed R-rated comedy featuring a popular duo will be released in cinemas on January 24, 2025. This movie is being directed by Lawrence Lamont for TriStar Pictures and written by Syreeta Singleton. At this time, specifics about the storyline remain undisclosed.
Completing our ensemble are Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, and Amin Joseph.
The producers for this project are Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi from Hoorae, Deniese Davis from ColorCreative, Charles D. King from Macro Film Studios, James Lopez and Poppy Hanks, with Macro Film Studios also financing the production and Singleton serving as a co-producer. Palmer and Sharon Palmer of Big Boss are overseeing the project as executive producers.
The movie started life within Sony’s CoLab, a past partnership between the studio and ColorCreative aimed at nurturing up-and-coming, multi-cultural screenwriters in creating unique film concepts.
In the past, Keke Palmer served as the host for a 2022 episode of Saturday Night Live, where SZA appeared as the musical act.
In his role, Lamont served as the director for the sitcom “Rap Sh!t,” which was conceived by Rae. Earlier in his career, Singleton penned scripts for “Rap Sh!t” and another popular comedy series, “Insecure.
As a gamer, I’m renowned for my roles in movies like “Nope” and “Hustlers.” My schedule is packed with exciting upcoming projects. One of them is a heist comedy called “The Pickup,” where I’ll be working alongside the legendary Eddie Murphy. I’m also set to appear in Peacock’s remake of “The Burbs” and have a part in the Kevin Hart comedy titled “The Backup.
