As a die-hard Yellowstone fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the gripping world of the Dutton family, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension about the potential sixth season. After binging every single episode, rewinding scenes to savor Beth Dutton’s badassery, and debating endlessly with fellow fans about the intricate plotlines, the thought of the series possibly coming to an end is bittersweet.
Following numerous months of anticipation, it’s confirmed that the last episodes of “Yellowstone’s” fifth season will be broadcast on November 10, 2024, according to the television schedule. Yet, speculation has arisen about whether Taylor Sheridan’s signature Western series will carry on beyond the fifth season finale. To this point, rumors of a sixth season for “Yellowstone” have surfaced, but cast members have been sharing farewell messages that hint at the closure of Season 5. Most recently, Kelly Reilly has clarified her stance and outlined one requirement – a condition I wholeheartedly support – for returning to play Beth Dutton in future seasons.
Recently, there have been discussions suggesting that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser might reprise their roles as Rip and Beth for a potential sixth season of Yellowstone. Yet, Jennifer Landon, who plays Teeter, posted about finishing the “final” season of the show. This leaves us uncertain if the critically acclaimed series by Sheridan will be renewed or not.
However, the Beth actress provided some clarity on the matter while chatting with EW, saying:
There’s potentially another chapter. It’s being talked about now.
To put it another way, while discussing Beth’s plans for the current season, Reilly also confirmed earlier reports about Season 6. Yet, as she emphasized, no final decisions have been made; they are merely having discussions at this point.
Speaking as a fellow enthusiast, she articulated her stance regarding returning to portray Beth, a demand I wholeheartedly support. In her own words, she shared that condition, and I couldn’t agree more. Here’s what she expressed:
Nothing is set in stone. But if Taylor wants to write it, I would want to do it. That’s it. Because he’s the one that’s written every single line I’ve ever said. She came from his imagination. But we’re both in agreement that there’s a shift that has to take place. Because you can’t keep telling the same story. This story is ending. Yellowstone as we know it is ending, but if there is more story to tell with some of the characters, it’s going to be a little different.
I strongly support Taylor Sheridan’s work, particularly “Yellowstone.” If he isn’t the one writing the show, I’m not sure if I’d be interested in watching it. Although there are many other shows on his upcoming slate (and exclusive series on Paramount+), “Yellowstone” is his top project and the one that kickstarted everything. I wouldn’t want to see a different version of it that he doesn’t oversee.
How To Watch Yellowstone
You can stream Seasons 1 through 5A with a Peacock subscription.
Yellowstone, as portrayed by Taylor Sheridan, truly embodies his unique style, and it’s evident that Reilly has complete faith in him and his narrative. If she were to reprise her role as a Dutton sibling, I’d want the story to be exceptional, and I believe the writer/producer is likely the only one capable of crafting such a tale.
Enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating a series featuring Rip and Beth, and I’m right there with them. It seems that Reilly might be prepared to deliver this show. Nevertheless, for it to materialize, Sheridan must also be on board.
Essentially, although nothing has been definitively confirmed yet, it’s exciting to hear that there may be progress on the next chapters for Yellowstone beyond Season 5. Moreover, it’s satisfying to learn that we might see more of Rip and Beth, but these upcoming episodes are expected to mark the end of this original era in Taylor Sheridan’s contemporary Western saga.
Moving ahead, it’s exciting to witness the concluding scenes of the fifth season of Yellowstone. I’m eagerly anticipating how Beth’s (and Rip’s) story comes to a close in this episode. Here’s hoping for more of their tales and perhaps more of Taylor Sheridan’s writing in the not-so-distant future.
