As a design enthusiast with a penchant for the unconventional, I must say that Kelly Wearstler‘s Nudo 2.0 collection is nothing short of breathtaking! Having had the privilege of witnessing her transformative work at last year’s collaboration with ARCA, I was eagerly anticipating this year’s reveal.
Kelly Wearstler has developed a line of stone furnishings and items, drawing inspiration from intricate weaving patterns for their shapes.
In partnership with natural materials firm ARCA, the Nudo 2.0 series was debuted during Art Basel Miami Beach 2024. For Kelly Wearstler, the creative spark originated from blending traditional artisan techniques with modern manufacturing processes.
In 2022, after our joint effort on Nudo 1.0, the fresh assortment carries forward Wearstler’s past partnership with ARCA. This time around, she has designed a coffee table, dining table, lounge chair, bench, and an exceptional ping pong table to add to the collection.
Each creation originates as a 3D model, enabling the form and style to be modified and adjusted. Subsequently, a suitable stone is selected. In the case of Nudo 2.0, Wearstler opted for Onyx. Wearstler explained, “Each piece starts off as a monolithic block of stone, shaped by a combination of traditional artisanship and modern technology. With each stone’s unique characteristics, no two pieces are identical. Each design carries its own unique essence, respecting the natural complexity and raw aesthetic appeal of marble.
The Onyx coffee table showcases a wavy base through carving. The dining table mirrors a stone formation eroded by time’s passage, while the bench design includes tiered, hollow arches. Notably, the ping-pong table can serve as a dining table too; it comes with a removable net for convenience.
2.0 version of NUDO was unveiled at ARCA’s Wynwood exhibition hall during Miami Art Week. You can buy these pieces either in person at the showroom or online directly from kellywearstler.com.
