As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that Kendrick Lamar is not just another artist but a modern-day musical maestro. His latest album, GNX, is yet another testament to his unparalleled storytelling and genre-bending prowess.
Kendrick Lamar has surprised fans with an early Christmas present: a new album.
On Friday, the reigning rap monarch unveiled “GNX.” This album contains twelve tracks and SZA lends her vocals to the emotional ballad, “Luther.” It’s been several months since he dominated the music scene with his hit diss track, “Not Like Us,” featuring Drake. This song climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received five Grammy nominations for both song and record of the year. Additionally, he achieved number one on the pop charts with his collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, titled “Like That.
Lamar’s most recent album, titled “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers“, came out in 2022 and garnered several Grammy awards. His 2017 album, “DAMN“, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for music, making him the first non-classical or jazz artist to receive this esteemed recognition. To date, he has earned a total of 17 Grammys and was nominated for an Oscar in 2019 for “All the Stars” from “Black Panther“. His career took off after releasing his mixtape “Section.80” in 2011, followed by his major-label debut, “good kid, m.A.A.d city“, in 2012, and he has since been both critically and commercially successful.
Next year, I’ll be taking center stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. It’s been a while since my last halftime performance back in 2022, where I shared the spotlight with legends like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent. That epic performance earned us an Emmy for outstanding live variety special, alongside Jay-Z and Jesse Collins. Can’t wait to bring it on again!
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d put it like this: “Hip-hop music has left an unparalleled mark in the industry so far, and I’m here to keep that legacy alive. The world’s about to see why they chose the right guy.” (This is a paraphrase of Kendrick Lamar’s quote, speaking from a first-person gaming perspective.)
