Actors Kerry Washington and Steven Yeun are now part of the cast alongside Ben Affleck and Gillian Anderson in the Netflix-produced kidnap thriller titled “Animals”, which Affleck is directing.
The castings emphasize the momentum the project has regained, now that it’s back on schedule after being delayed for a year. The production is set to begin in Los Angeles next month. The producers chose to film here, aiming to support local employment and solidify L.A.’s status as a thriving filmmaking city.
As a dedicated gamer, I found myself immersed in a gripping tale penned by both Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray. This crime thriller revolves around a mayoral hopeful, me, and my spouse, whose son mysteriously vanishes. With a multitude of adversaries lurking from the political realm and beyond, our backs are against the wall. To save our beloved child, we’re forced to dig deep and get our hands dirty in a desperate attempt to navigate through this treacherous ordeal.
In this production, Affleck portrays the character of the candidate, and Washington takes on the role of his wife. Anderson assumes the part of a troubleshooter, while Yeun’s character is that of the campaign manager. Previously, it was announced that Yeun would be taking on this role in earlier versions of the project.
Affleck, Matt Damon, and Dani Bernfeld from Artists Equity will team up to produce a project. Additionally, Brad Weston and Collin Creighton from MakeReady will produce it as well. Formerly known as Endeavor Content, Fifth Season, the company responsible for production, sales, and distribution, will also be involved in producing this project. They developed this project in collaboration with MakeReady.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to be part of a project where Artists Equity’s Michael Joe, Kevin Halloran, and Lucy Damon are serving as executive producers, working alongside Fifth Season!
Both Washington and Yeun have a high profile within the Netflix community. After starring in Tyler Perry’s highly successful film, The Six Triple Eight, a World War Two drama that attracted 52.4 million views during its first four weeks on Netflix, Washington will next feature in the third installment of Rian Johnson’s mystery series, titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Actor Yeun is back on track, not only with Netflix but also with Artists Equity, as he takes on roles alongside Affleck and Damon in the upcoming crime thriller “RIP”, directed by Joe Carnahan. Previously, Yeun was seen in season one of “Beef”, a 2023 black comedy that won him an Emmy Award for outstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie, alongside Ali Wong.
Washington is repped by CAA, Washington Square Arts, the Lede Company and Hanson Jacobsen.
Actor Yeun, who will be seen alongside Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film “Mickey 17” directed by Bong Joon Ho, is represented by three agencies: William Morris Endeavor (WME), Hansen Jacobson, and Narrative.
