Kesari 2: Masaba Gupta reveals mom Neena Gupta’s reaction to her dance number Khumaari; reveals manifesting it after watching THIS actress

The latest movie starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan, titled Kesari Chapter 2, has just been released in theaters and has garnered favorable responses from both audiences and critics. Its captivating plotline and exceptional acting performances kept viewers enthralled. The film also included a short dance sequence, Khumaari, performed by Masaba Gupta, daughter of Neena Gupta, during a crucial scene where Amit Sial’s character was attempting to persuade Neville McKinley (R Madhavan) to take on a case against Akshay Kumar’s character C Sankaran Nair. Masaba has since shared her experience about how her mother reacted to this dance number and also mentioned that she drew inspiration for it after watching Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

In a heart-to-heart chat with SCREEN, my beloved Neena Gupta was taken aback, exclaiming something along the lines of, “When on earth did you manage this, and how did it even happen? What’s going on here?” Yet, her joy was palpable as she had always envisioned me twirling on the dance floor.

She mentioned that entering this creative realm had long been a cherished aspiration of hers. Moreover, Masaba uncovered that she secured the dance routine prior to her pregnancy, and observing its realization following such a life-altering experience brings her tremendous satisfaction.

Additionally, she openly admitted that she was not concerned with the song being labeled as an ‘item number’. She was well-aware of the storyline, having been guided through it by director Karan Singh Tyagi. To her, it was more than just a surface-level piece; instead, it presented a captivating and intense courtroom drama.

Masaba Gupta expressed that the style of the piece was firmly rooted in significance. She mentioned that performances set in historical or time-specific settings tend to hold more gravitas and complexity. While she’s not hesitant about item songs, she emphasized that they should convey meaning and serve a purpose as well.

Masaba also mentioned, “I was really captivated by Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s performance in ‘Oo Antava’ from ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. For quite some time, I’ve had a desire to create something along those lines. In fact, when I watched that song, an idea for a similar number popped into my mind, as I aimed to emulate Samantha and achieve a comparable impact.

As she explained, the Kesari 2 song “Khumaari” carries a powerful message and transcends the category of being merely an “item song.

Meanwhile, Kesari Chapter 2: The Hidden Tale of Jallianwala Bagh, featuring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, is steadily building traction at the box office with a consistent and encouraging upward trend.
