There are two groups of people when it comes to entertainment: those who enjoy the grandeur of cinema on large screens, and those who prefer streaming content at home via online platforms. If you’re eagerly anticipating Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, I’m sorry to say, but the wait will extend beyond two months.

Typically, a Bollywood movie premieres on an online streaming service around two months after it hits theaters. However, unlike most films, this Karan Johar-produced period courtroom drama is expected to take longer than that before appearing on any digital platform.

The movie starring Akshay Kumar, which debuted on April 18, 2025, has been positively received by theatre-goers. Its box office performance suggests that it had a consistent first week, grossing Rs 45.55 crore, with an opening weekend of Rs 29 crore. The movie is showing strong growth in urban multiplexes and is expected to surpass the Rs 20 crore mark during its second weekend.

In this A-rated movie, Khiladi Kumar takes on the part of C. Sankaran Nair, a renowned Indian lawyer and statesman. Notably, he was instrumental in the events following the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Joining him is Ananya Panday, who assumes the role initially played by Dilreet Gill – a significant figure in helping Nair argue his case at the British court. Alongside these two actors, R. Madhavan appears as Neville McKinley, a British representative who opposes Kumar’s character in this historical drama.
