This edition takes us to Bengal, offering a new serving of crime, politics, and power struggles. Renowned Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who now portrays a politician in this suspenseful drama, revealed the factors that attracted him to the project. He emphasized his eagerness to collaborate with Neeraj Pandey, the intriguing Bengal-focused plot, and the complexity of his character as crucial elements that led him to become part of the series.
In an interview with Money Control, Prosenjit Chatterjee explained what led him to be part of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. He stated, “Primarily, it was Neeraj Pandey who attracted me. I have been eager to collaborate with him, as we’ve had a long-standing relationship. Additionally, the fact that this is a Bengal-focused production made me believe that if I’m involved in this project, it would highlight Bengal.
He stated, “Regarding me, Jeet, other exceptional actors from Bengal, and the narrative which paints a unique picture of Bengal – an unseen side of it. The role itself, as you are aware, has always been my aim to portray something distinct. It’s a powerful character.
The actor added, “He’s an exceptional director working with a fantastic script. It’s filled with terrific actors, so I jumped at the chance to be part of it. I absolutely adore the confidence and charm my character exudes.
Prosenjit added that Bengali cinema has consistently blazed its own trail, characterized by powerful storytelling and intellectual substance, rather than playing catch-up. He’s hopeful that Khakee: The Bengal Chapter will mark a significant milestone for Bengali cinema in commercial arenas, boosting the recognition of its talented artists.
In relation to his character depiction, he mentioned that he prefers playing roles with complex layers, not just purely good or bad ones, as demonstrated in Jubilee. Furthermore, he emphasized the significance of online streaming platforms in expanding the reach of regional films, thereby providing a platform for more varied narratives and actors to garner attention.
