Khel Khel Mein EXCLUSIVE: Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal hail Akshay Kumar’s knack for comedy; Ammy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal reveal why this genre is ‘tough’

As a seasoned film critic with over three decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Akshay Kumar is the undisputed ‘King of Comedy’ in Bollywood. Having witnessed the evolution of comedy in Hindi cinema, I can attest to the fact that it is indeed one of the most challenging genres to master.

The upcoming comedy film “Khel Khel Mein,” starring Akshay Kumar, is ready to hit cinemas over the Independence Day weekend. Fans of comedy films are eagerly anticipating its release. In a recent exclusive interview with TopMob, the creative team behind this Mudassar Aziz production discussed Akshay Kumar’s role as the “King of Comedy” and how the comedy genre can be challenging to master.

Vaani Kapoor initiated the discussion by stating, “I believe this genre is quite challenging to master. Either you possess the knack for it naturally, or you don’t. It requires a lot of effort to make it appear effortless, and that’s a skill one needs to master. I can’t think of anyone who excels more in comedy than Akshay does.”

Aditya Seal concurred and went on to say, “A person who can make you laugh will always be busy. Laughter is a valuable act – it’s truly valid. After a tough workday, simply watch something amusing or comedic, and all your worries vanish, and there isn’t anyone who does it better than him (Akshay).”

Actor Fardeen Khan, returning to the screen after 14 years, shared his thoughts on laughter, stating that it’s a genuine response. “It reflects honesty. We can’t feign laughter. To achieve that authenticity, there must be truth in the script, and when we aren’t forcing humor. As Akshay Kumar mentioned, it’s quite challenging… Humor is a very serious endeavor,” said Fardeen Khan of Heeramandi fame.

During our chat, Aditya Seal emphasized the unique nature of humor among individuals. “While I might find certain jokes amusing, others may find a different set funny. However, finding that common ground where we all laugh, that’s the real skill – it’s like mastering the art of appealing to a diverse audience.”

Pragya Jaiswal, back in Hindi cinema after a long break, openly acknowledged that comedy work can be incredibly challenging. “This is my first comedy movie, and on the first day, I was nervously wondering what I’d do here. Fortunately, everyone was extremely supportive, making it easier for me. However, yes, it’s tough – mastering the right timing requires a great deal of hard work.”

Ammy Virk emphasized that when it comes to comedy, there’s no room for compromise; it needs to be exceptional. He explained that while other genres might allow some leeway, with comedy, you must deliver your best or risk looking poorly executed.

Khel Khel Mein arrives in theaters near you on August 15th, 2024.
