Kieran Culkin to Play Caesar in ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ (Exclusive)

Kieran Culkin, fresh from his Oscar victory, has secured a role in the upcoming film titled “The Hunger Games: Dawn of the Reaping“.

The actor will portray Caesar Flickerman in the upcoming Lionsgate film, according to an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter. Francis Lawrence is directing the movie, which is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel and is scheduled for release in theaters on November 20, 2026.

Caesar serves as the unconventional emcee for The Hunger Games. In the initial four movies of the series, which began with The Hunger Games premiering in cinemas in 2012, Stanley Tucci embodied an older rendition of this character.

The following actors and actresses have been confirmed for the upcoming movie “Sunrise on the Reaping“: Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor, and Ben Wang. Additionally, THR’s exclusive report has added Ralph Fiennes as the sinister President Snow, Molly McCann and Iona Bell in the notable roles of Louella and Lou Lou, and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m diving headfirst into the world of this film, masterfully guided by Billy Ray’s script, which brilliantly translates Collins’ novel onto the silver screen. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are my trusted producers from Color Force, while Cameron MacConomy skillfully oversees the project as an executive producer.

Erin Westerman, co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, remarks that Kieran’s captivating presence and irresistible charisma are ideally suited for Caesar Flickerman, the mesmerizing host of Panem’s most ominous spectacle. Stanley Tucci had made Caesar a standout role in the past, and now, Kieran is expected to put his unique stamp on the character.

Jacobson notes that “Kieran’s charm, quick-wit, and unpredictability make him an ideal choice for the role of Caesar Flickerman. A host such as Caesar turns brutality into entertainment, while an actor with depth like Kieran ensures we stay captivated.

Meredith Wieck and Scott O’Brien are in charge of “Sunrise at the Harvest” for Lionsgate, with Phil Strina managing the agreement on behalf of the studio.

The story of the book “Sunrise on the Reaping” unfolds in the district of Panem, specifically during the early hours of the 50th Hunger Games selection ceremony, which happened 24 years prior to the events detailed in “The Hunger Games”, a novel released in 2008. This franchise has generated over $3.3 billion at global box offices, with the first four movies featuring Jennifer Lawrence portraying Katniss Everdeen as the main character.

This year, Macaulay Culkin was awarded the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for the film “A Real Pain,” and he’s been nominated three times for Emmys in “Succession.” Currently, you can catch him performing on Broadway in “Glengarry Glen Ross” alongside Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr. He is managed by WME, Brookside Artist Management, and Relevant.
