In the sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the non-player characters (NPCs) exhibit a higher level of intelligence compared to most bystanders in typical video games.
Many gamers are learning the consequences of their actions the harsh way: these Non-Player Characters (NPCs) are vigilant, observing your actions closely, and they won’t hesitate to report any misdeeds to the authorities if rules are broken. A Reddit user named @Jattmogger shared an example of the relentless nature of NPCs after he attempted a burglary. He secretly entered a carpenter’s home, killed his family for a cache of valuable loot, but believed they had escaped undetected.
Upon their return to the village, the widow of the deceased carpenter recognized the stolen equipment they were wearing, leading swiftly to their capture and execution. The moral? If you plan on committing a crime, ensure you remove any traces of it and refrain from showing off your ill-gotten possessions. A safer approach might be to eliminate witnesses entirely.
Instead of just focusing on stolen goods, the NPCs in KCD2 are remarkably skilled at forging connections, even in seemingly minor scenarios. Following Jattmogger’s story, players began recounting their encounters with the game’s clever NPCs. In another instance, a user (@Totallynotstefan) attempted to steal a musical instrument from a vendor after being refused the purchase.

Immediately following the theft, the NPC swiftly picked up on the situation, recalled an earlier conversation, and immediately implicated the culprit. It’s worth noting that NPCs are known for their keen perception and exceptional memory. Another user (@Faizetto) even shared a story about being apprehended three days after stealing a horse, demonstrating this ability.
In another part of the story, it wasn’t witnessed that they stole the horse, but a stablehand noticed them fleeing, and the authorities soon tracked them down. This lends an air of realism to the criminal system in KCD2, as NPCs can recall past events. Meanwhile, @Apcsox shared a humorous yet exasperating interaction they experienced.

At three in the morning, a gang of robbers targeted and stole from a group of bath attendants who were asleep. They believed they’d successfully pulled off the heist without being caught. However, some time later, they were apprehended by the guards and accused of the crime. Remarkably, the bath attendants not only recalled the incident vividly but also linked it to the player, even though the player hadn’t been physically present during the theft.
Should you behave mysteriously, bystanders may begin to notice patterns, leading them to suspect your past transgressions. Therefore, if you’re contemplating any illegal activities, remember that vigilance is key—in Bohemia, there’s always someone watching, and nothing escapes scrutiny for long.
