In this piece, we’ll walk you through the mission titled “Taking French Leave” from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Without any more ado, let’s help Lord Capon out!
The “French Leave” mission centers on rescuing Lord Capon from his imprisonment. This is the eighteenth out of thirty-two missions in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Following the completion of the “Via Argentum” mission, where you uncover Vavak and persuade Ruthard to join your rescue attempt, this quest unfolds. Throughout the quest, players must discover a hidden subterranean path that will guide Henry and his team to Maleshov. Subsequently, players need to infiltrate the castle quietly to locate Lord Capon.
If you’re encountering issues with your current mission, don’t fret! Let’s walk through the “Leaving Ransack” quest, which is the second mission in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, instead.
How To Complete the Taking French Leave Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
After completing the “Via Argentum” mission, your journey begins as “French Leave.” Initially, return to the Ruthards in their palace, which is located in the southern part of Kuttenberg. Since the gate will be under guard, make sure to visit during daylight hours. Inform the guards that Lord Ruthard awaits you. Upon hearing this, they’ll escort you to meet Kunzlin, Rosa, and Sir Oderin.
Inform them that I have evidence of Vavak’s wrongdoings, which will persuade Ruthard to collaborate with us on the matter concerning Lord Capon. Once that’s settled, you and your group can devise a strategy for rescuing Hans Capon from Lord Von Bergow. As we agreed before, Rosa will provide you with details about the route to Malesov that you’ll need.
Find the Passageway
Engaging in conversation with Rosa initiates an optional quest for you. She’ll provide maps for the Maleshov Tower and Maleshov Fort, but keep in mind that a shovel is essential to uncover the hidden path. Ensure you have one handy. Next up, seek out Hashtal, who can be found northwest of Maleshov at a farm. This fellow will offer you a horse as an escape route if needed within Maleshov.
With all our preparations complete, it’s time for us to discover the hidden pathway. Earlier, Rosa had informed us that we should seek a modest shrine near a stack of rocks which leads to a chapel. This shrine will be positioned at a crossroads within the designated area on your map. Upon arrival at the shrine, you’ll immediately recognize the pile of stones Rosa referred to as being located on your right-hand side.
To reach the passage area, head towards the chapel by following the rocks, then follow the path that takes you to the ruins. Once there, look for the entrance to the north of your search circle, which will be located near a tree bearing a white cross – making it quite conspicuous.
Taking a close look reveals that the peak of the cross stands pointing towards a certain direction. Head in that direction, and you’ll encounter another cross that guides you further to a third one. Once you reach it, start digging at the spot. Continue until you uncover an entrance to a tunnel. Walk through this tunnel until you reach its end. Interact with the wall there, dismantle it, leap over the debris, and a cutscene will ensue. This action will transport you within Hans Capon’s fortress.
Rescue Lord Hans Capon
He’s situated at the peak of the central tower. Pay attention to the guards’ conversations, they might disclose that the chef possesses the tower’s keys. To locate the chef, proceed right first, then continue straight until you spot a door. Be cautious as a guard will be stationed there. You can choose to neutralize him quietly or slip by unnoticed – it’s your call. After passing through the door, use the staircase and descend. You’ll encounter another staircase with a right-side door later on. Enter that door and exit, then take two left turns, and you’ll reach the kitchen. Overpower the chef and grab all her keys once you’re there.
This version maintains the information in the original text while using more natural and easy-to-read language.
From now on, locating the tower entrance proves tricky as it’s situated up a staircase on the east side of the building, along its south wall. Make sure to stay clear of notice, but should any guard obstruct your path, hurl stones to divert them. Upon reaching the stairs, utilize your keys to unlock the door and proceed inside. Ascend the stairs further until you spot two guards engaged in a dispute with a woman. Bide your time till they conclude their discussion, then discreetly hide from sight when they descend the stairs.
Firstly, move upward and locate the door on your left. Once inside, there’ll be a lady seated. You’ll notice two swords within the room; grab them as they’re crucial for your upcoming escape. Then, proceed straight ahead to the upper floor. On reaching the top, find the door on your left again, and a scene will unfold. Following this, you’ll rescue Hans and Vauquelin Brabant. Provide them with the swords you collected earlier, or you may need to acquire alternative weapons for them before continuing with the quest.
Escape From the Fortress
Now, you should tread quietly towards the stables as Hans stays watch in the tower. The stables are situated on the north side of the fortress. Be cautious not to be spotted during your journey there. Employing stealth and using stones to lure the guards, make your way to the stables. Light your torch upon arrival to indicate to Hans that it’s safe for him to come near. Soon after, both Hans and Vauquelin will arrive. Be aware that the guards might spot them on their way; you can either engage in a fight or divert the guards’ attention.
After everyone has gathered at the stables, make your way to the large entrance and engage it. This action will initiate a scene, and the trio will depart from the fortress. For approximately six minutes, trail behind them. During this time, you’ll encounter another cutscene featuring Hanush of Leipa and Radzig Koblya.
After filling them in on the details, Radzig, Hanush, and Hans will proceed to a gathering in Raborsch. Subsequently, you’ll be tasked with penetrating the city council in Kuttenberg, which concludes the “Taking French Leave” quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
