In this revised version, the interface has been simplified significantly. Previously present health and endurance gauges have been eliminated, which means that players must rely on visual hints and observe the behavior of their characters to infer their status.

This change means Henry has to pay more attention to what’s going on around him and his reactions.

Perks That Work Against You

Hardcore Mode introduces some unforgiving new “perks”—though they might not deserve that label.

When you begin playing, you’ll first be asked to choose some unfavorable characteristics from a provided list. These choices will then modify your gaming experience throughout.

This could involve characteristics such as a weak back that limits how much weight you can comfortably lug around, or having clumsy gait that wears out footwear quicker and amplifies the sounds you make.
