Kobe Bryant’s Staples Center Locker Is Up for Auction

As a die-hard Lakers fan and someone who grew up idolizing Kobe Bryant, I can’t contain my excitement about the opportunity to own a piece of basketball history – Kobe’s personal locker from the Staples Center. The memories and stories attached to this locker are priceless.

Kobe Bryant’s locker from the Staples Center is available for bidding at Sotheby’s. This locker was Bryant’s own during most of his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, starting in 2003 and continuing until his last game in April 2016.

After Bryant retired, his locker in the Staples Center locker room passed to Brandon Ingram. However, in 2018, as part of renovations at the Staples Center, the entire locker room was scheduled for disassembly. A maintenance worker spotted Bryant’s locker amongst those to be discarded and rescued it instead.

Later on, the locker passed into the possession of a private collector through a separate transaction. Remarkably, this very collector previously owned Bryant’s label. Consequently, they were able to attach it back onto the locker.

As a gamer, I can tell you that Kobe Bryant’s locker at the Staples Center is more than just an ordinary item for collectors; it’s a sacred relic that holds the essence of his incredible journey. For me, and many other fans, this locker was where Kobe retreated after each victory or defeat, a silent witness to his triumphs and trials throughout his legendary career.

From July 26 to July 30, Bryant’s locker will be displayed at Sotheby’s New York gallery. The locker is predicted to sell for between one and one point five million dollars, and bidding is currently open in Sotheby’s online sports-themed ALTITUDE | Capsule Collection auction.
