On February 23rd, the Los Angeles Kings will be organizing a charity match featuring celebrities and former NHL players at the Crypto.com Arena. This event aims to raise funds for the L.A. Fire Relief Fund, as revealed on Wednesday evening.
Event tickets labeled as “Skate for L.A. Strong” are planned to be given out to firefighters, emergency responders, individuals who have been forced to relocate or lost their homes, as actor and hockey enthusiast Will Arnett announced on TNT prior to the match between the Los Angeles Kings and Florida Panthers.
Players, both current and retired, as well as first responders, are anticipated to participate alongside celebrities in the event, Arnett mentioned. Ticket sales won’t occur for this game.
During the broadcast, Luc Robitaille, a former Kings president and Hockey Hall of Famer, mentioned that they had a conversation with commissioner Gary Bettman. Instead of giving money as a donation, they suggested an idea that would have a greater impact.
As a passionate advocate, I’m eagerly looking forward to inviting a multitude of individuals into our community hub. My aim is to extend this opportunity to heroic first responders and their loved ones as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for their selfless service. Furthermore, I also wish to welcome those who have been displaced due to unfortunate circumstances, offering them a place of solace within our midst.
On a Monday evening, the Kings displayed a fresh center-ice emblem at Crypto.com Arena as a tribute to the firefighters prior to their match versus the Pittsburgh Penguins, marking their initial home game since the wildfires ignited on January 7th.
On the eve of the match, I had the privilege of witnessing firefighters and first responders from diverse departments being honored on the ice. During the pre-game warm-up, players from both teams proudly wore LAFD caps as a mark of respect. Similar salutes were given to our brave firefighters before Wednesday’s game. It was an emotional moment for everyone present, reminding us all of their selfless service and sacrifice.
Uniting as one, we’re LA Tough ❤️! We’ve joined forces with the NHL to organize a star-studded and NHL Alumni All Star hockey game. This special event aims to support the Los Angeles Fire Relief Fund. The tickets for this unique occasion will be given to local firefighters, first responders, and those affected by the fires.
