As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the arts and a deep appreciation for the struggles and triumphs of artists, I must say that Chhaya Kadam’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Her recent experiences with Laapataa Ladies and All We Imagine As Light are a testament to her versatility as an actress and her unwavering commitment to her craft.
The Laapataa Ladies team is thrilled that their movie has been chosen as India’s representative for the Oscars. Chhaya Kadam, who portrays Manju Mai in this Kiran Rao film, echoes this joy. Yet, her other project, All We Imagine As Light, didn’t make the cut and Kadam confessed that she was disappointed about it. She expressed a wish to have both of her films compete at the Oscars.
During an interview with India Today, Chhaya Kadam from Laapataa Ladies expressed her joy and enthusiasm that their film has been selected to represent India at the 97th Academy Awards. She referred to this achievement as a ‘source of great pride.’
In addition, Chhaya is included in the movie “All We Imagine As Light,” which clinched the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. The team behind the film, led by director Payal Kapadia and the cast, were present in France during May to receive the festival’s second-highest accolade.
In response to AWIAL not being chosen as India’s entry to the Oscars 2025, Chhaya expressed happiness for Laapataa Ladies but also felt a tinge of sadness for Payal’s film. Since the decision was made by those in authority at Film Federation, she has no power to change it. If given the opportunity, she would have preferred to see both films competing at the Oscars.
Kiran Rao, director of Laapataa Ladies, expressed her gratitude on Instagram about being selected as India’s submission for the Academy Awards. She stated that she was incredibly proud and overjoyed, acknowledging that this honor is a reflection of the hard work and commitment from everyone involved in the production, whose devotion and passion breathed life into our story.
