Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix Walk ‘Joker 2’ U.K. Premiere Red Carpet as Darkness Falls Over London

As a die-hard fan of the Batman universe, I was absolutely thrilled to witness the grandeur and excitement surrounding the London premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux.” The electric atmosphere was palpable as Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix, and Todd Phillips graced the red carpet at Leicester Square.

On a thrilling Wednesday, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix left fans in London’s Leicester Square and its surroundings absolutely ecstatic during the U.K. premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” directed by Todd Phillips and produced by Warner Bros.

Earlier this month, the sequel to the blockbuster movie “Joker” had its debut at the Venice Film Festival. In this new film, Phoenix reprises his role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, a character he portrayed exceptionally well to win the Best Actor Oscar in 2019. This time around, Lady Gaga takes on the part of Harley Quinn, the Joker’s criminal accomplice.

In the hypothetical movie titled “Joker: Duet of Madness“, Arthur Fleck is confined in Gotham’s Arkham Asylum, awaiting trial for his actions as the Joker. During his stay, he discovers affection for Harley Quinn, portrayed by Lady Gaga, and uncovers the music that had been hidden within him.

Under the London night sky, producers Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Joseph Garner, along with star Lady Gaga, graced the red carpet outside the Cineworld Leicester Square cinema. It was Lady Gaga who had recently announced the companion album to “Joker: Folie à Deux,” titled “Harlequin.” Her appearance sparked a series of enthusiastic cheers and cries of “Gaga!” from an ecstatic fan base, who couldn’t contain their excitement.

Phillips shared with a gathering of reporters on the red carpet details about the significant part music plays in the upcoming “Joker” sequel. He explained, “What motivated the musical aspect is the concept that, although Arthur felt disconnected from the world in the initial film – something Joaquin and I discussed early on – Arthur has an inherent love for music within him.” He continued, “You saw this in the first movie when he danced down the stairs or in the bathroom. So we reasoned: If he discovers affection in his life, maybe that music buried deep inside of him is released. Therefore, it’s not as unusual as some people might think. To us, it was a very logical decision.

Harry Lawtey, the lead actor from HBO’s “Industry,” has taken on the role of Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, in the latest film. There’s speculation among fans about whether we’ll see more of him in this character. When asked about this possibility by The Hollywood Reporter, he replied, “To be truthful, that would go beyond my authority.” However, he added, “It was a tremendous honor to portray him. The character has such a rich history and dedicated fanbase in the comic books. There are many people who deeply care about him, and I certainly appreciated that. So, even though I only had a brief opportunity to embody him, it was truly enjoyable.

Lawtey told THR, “One of the appealing aspects of such roles is that others can offer their unique interpretations and redefine them across various projects. This was my motivation, and I hope I’ve managed to present a slightly distinct version of Harvey Dent.
