As a long-time television enthusiast and avid gamer, I can’t help but be thrilled about Lamorne Morris’s recent Emmy nomination for his outstanding performance in FX’s anthology series, “Fargo.” Having grown up watching Morris on the small screen as Winston Bishop in “New Girl,” it’s a delight to see him being recognized for his talents beyond that beloved character.
Lamorne Morris has been active in the TV industry for some time now. He gained recognition for portraying Winston Bishop on the Fox sitcom “New Girl,” but he has also appeared in “Valley of the Boom” and Hulu’s “Woke.” His latest role in FX’s anthology series, “Fargo,” has garnered him significant praise from critics. Notably, he was named an Emmy nominee for this performance. Taking to social media, the former sitcom star expressed gratitude to his fans and made a humorous reference to “New Girl” and fellow nominee Robert Downey Jr.
When the Emmy nominations were announced, there were some unexpected names and omissions that left awards enthusiasts talking. It came as a pleasant surprise to see Morris nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Although he’s an accomplished actor, this recognition marks his first Emmy nod. Considering his past performances, it seems long overdue. In his Instagram post, Morris jokingly acknowledged his past Emmy snubs and the fact that this nomination was for his work on “New Girl.”
Thank you to the [Television Academy] for finally recognizing all my hard work on New Girl!
Morris additionally acknowledged Robert Downey Jr., another contender in his category for “The Sympathizer,” whom he thinks will likely take home the award due to his remarkable acting transformation. Lightheartedly, Morris poked fun at Downey’s past role in “Tropic Thunder,” where he portrayed a Black character, suggesting that he would have been more suitable for the part.
I may have the edge in confidence, but I can’t deny the brilliance Robert Downey Jr. brought to the table in Tropic Thunder, earning us both a nomination. However, my fellow nominees and I aren’t going to sit idly by. We’re determined to make this recognition a memorable experience for all.
In a lighthearted and playful manner, it’s obvious that Morris’s Instagram post is a joke. Given Downey’s renowned wit, I have no doubt he’ll pick up on the humor. Although Downey is the favorite to win the award, it’s heartening to see Morris being acknowledged for his long-standing contributions to television. His portrayal of State Trooper Witt Farr in the black comedy is brilliant and suits its tone perfectly, making the nomination well deserved.
Morris expressed his gratitude towards the cast and crew for allowing him to act alongside the distinguished Season 5 Fargo cast.
I’m thrilled beyond words and can’t contain my excitement! It’s an immense privilege to collaborate with such a gifted team. A big shout-out to Noah Hawley for giving me this chance and believing in me to breathe life into Witt Farr. Let’s embark on this journey together – here we go, Fargo fans!
I’m thrilled to my core, just like Morris is! We, Downey and I, are up for recognition among giants – Jonathan Bailey from “Fellow Travelers” and John Hawkes of “True Detective”. Some fans might have wished for this accolade based on Morris’s riotous portrayal of Winston, the cat-loving, ever-optimistic character in “New Girl”. But fear not, he’s finally getting his due appreciation now.
I’m thrilled to share that with a Hulu subscription, you can witness Lamorne Morris’s Emmy-nominated acting in “Fargo.” And if you’re a fan of his hilarious portrayal from “New Girl,” you’ll be glad to know that you can rewatch it on the same platform.
