Landman Co-Creator Responds To Fans Who Want To See More Of Demi Moore’s Cami

Upon discovering the series titled Landman, I was thoroughly impressed by the stellar cast, particularly Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore, who were highly anticipated figures for me on screen. However, when it came to seeing her actually appear, Moore’s screen time was remarkably limited. It turns out that I wasn’t alone in my dismay; many viewers shared similar feelings about the underutilization of Moore’s character. Now, one of the co-creators of this Texas-based show has spoken up regarding Demi Moore’s role and the fan reaction to her character Cami during Season 1.

Throughout the latter part of 2024 and into the following TV schedule, I found myself questioning week after week if Landman’s character would experience a significant breakthrough scene. However, when she was announced as the winner at the 2025 Golden Globes for her performance in “The Substance,” it underscored this uncertainty, as this actress is clearly shining and it seems surprising that she didn’t have a more prominent role in the show.

It’s good news that Christian Wallace, the co-creator and executive producer of the show, spoke about this matter and Cami’s future during his recent interview with TV Line.

It’s been noted that Cami holds significant power and influence, yet we haven’t witnessed her fully demonstrate it due to her unique position in the first season. If the narrative were to progress, it would undeniably be intriguing to explore Cami’s role more thoroughly, especially as she ascends higher in a world predominantly inhabited by men and starts making crucial decisions.

Throughout Season 1, Moore’s character primarily portrayed Monty’s wife. We witnessed her at a swimming competition and later grieving her spouse, but surprisingly, she didn’t have a distinct storyline of her own. It’s astonishing, considering DEMI MOORE was the one playing the role.

If “Landman” is renewed for a second season, it appears as if the actress playing the Ghost character could truly excel. With Jon Hamm’s Monty character deceased, there seems to be significant rearrangement within MTex’s power structure, and I have a hunch that Cami will be involved in these changes. Essentially, I’d like to witness her seizing an opportunity for power, perhaps even taking over the company, and delivering compelling speeches that win me over just as much as Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy does.

Wallace spoke to that idea as well, saying:

The oil industry is seeing an increasing number of women in leadership roles, even in the upper echelons of major companies. This means that Cami wouldn’t be stepping into a male-dominated world by herself. However, it remains predominantly male-oriented, making her potential role quite intriguing. And with Demi portraying this character, who is at the pinnacle of her influence, I believe it would be an amazing spectacle to witness unfold.

Significantly, Landman’s assessments highlighted the portrayal of women as a key concern, and I concur. In terms of Cami, her character was significantly underdeveloped, lacking depth. To be honest, my knowledge of her is limited to the fact that she is Monty’s wife and has a history with Tommy. However, if Wallace’s prediction for Season 2 materializes, this could potentially alter her character development.

I hope to witness Moore taking a prominent role in this series, and it appears as though the creators could be preparing her for this. Therefore, let’s keep our fingers crossed that if there is more of “Landman,” we will also see more of Cami.

For now, feel free to return and stream “Landman” on Paramount+. Begin brainstorming ideas on how they might expand Demi Moore’s role to elevate her status as a pivotal figure in this grand drama series.
