As a seasoned researcher with over two decades of investigative journalism under my belt, I find myself intrigued by this latest development in the Satoshi Nakamoto saga. Having delved into the world of QAnon and its convoluted theories, I can’t help but notice a striking resemblance between the conspiracy-laden narrative surrounding QAnon and the claims made by Cullen Hoback about Peter Todd being Satoshi Nakamoto.
The recently released preview of an HBO documentary suggests that filmmaker Cullen Hoback has pointed towards Peter Todd, a Bitcoin Core developer active since 2010, as his likely candidate for the true-life persona of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.
In response to this, Todd howers has denied this saying ” of course I’m not Satoshi,” and that filmmaker Cullen Hoback, was “grasping at straws”
Peter Todd, who started working on Bitcoin’s core development in 2010, has confirmed that the video clip in circulation is authentic, not a deepfake.
It’s intriguing, given the director’s reputation for creating documentaries about QAnon, that he himself seems to be embracing the QAnon approach of drawing conclusions from supposed coincidences in this case as well.
The viral clip circulating on social media alos shows todd calling the idea of him being satoshi “ludicorus”.
For clarity, only parts of the movie have become popular online. It’s plausible that Hoback may come to a distinct conclusion in the final analysis. Moreover, the documentary might not even reveal the true identity of Satoshi, despite initial speculation.
