Lee Pace Joins Glen Powell as Villain in Edgar Wright’s ‘The Running Man’ (Exclusive)

As a gamer with an extensive background of immersing myself into various digital worlds and stories, I can hardly contain my excitement for “The Running Man” adaptation! The cast is nothing short of spectacular, especially with the addition of Lee Pace to the roster. His portrayal of Ronan in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” left a lasting impression on me, so I’m eager to see him take on another memorable villainous role.

Lee Pace, known for his captivating portrayal of the antagonist Ronan in Marvel Studio’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” once again steps into the role of a malevolent character.

The performer is set to team up with Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, and Katy O’Brian (from ‘Love Lies Bleeding’) for their take on ‘The Running Man’, a film based on a Stephen King novel, produced by Paramount Pictures.

Edgar Wright will be at the helm as director, and he’s collaborated on the screenplay with Michael Bacall. The filming is scheduled to begin in London at the start of next year.

In 1982, Stephen King penned his novel “Running Man” under the pen name Richard Bachman. The story takes place in the year 2025, where America is ruled by a totalitarian regime that entertains its restless populace through brutal reality TV shows.

The novel centered on one desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants. The longer a contestant survives, the more money that person makes. But as the game show’s producers and killers will find out, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show’s dark secrets.

As I immerse myself in this gripping virtual world, I find myself taking on the role of a desperate contestant. Chiwetel Ejiofor, as Powell, portrays the ruthless mastermind behind the game show. Meanwhile, Daniel Bruhl steps into the shoes of the show’s ruthless producer.

The pace of the story primarily revolves around a character who assumes the role of a ruthless network chief hunter, airing game shows. This individual is given the assignment by the show’s producer to locate the character portrayed by Powell.

On November 21, 2025, Paramount will debut the movie they’re working on. The producers for this project are Simon Kinberg, Nira Park, and Wright.

In 2014, Lee Pace played the vibrant Marvel antagonist Ronan the Accuser in the movie “Guardians,” and he reappeared as this character in the 2019 blockbuster hit “Captain Marvel” that earned over a billion dollars. Previously, he was a main actor in AMC’s drama series “Halt and Catch Fire,” which aired during the mid-2010s. More recently, he has been one of the lead actors in Apple TV’s science fiction show “Foundation,” which is currently preparing for its third season.

He is repped by WME and Peikoff Mahan Law.
