In a chilling collaboration between Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, the movie stars Christopher Abbott, famously known for his role in “Poor Things,” as Blake Lovell, a devoted family man who experiences an alarming and grotesque metamorphosis following an encounter with a baffling creature in the untamed wilderness of Oregon. The grisly transformation draws upon horror classics such as John Carpenter’s “The Thing” and David Cronenberg’s “The Fly.” Julia Garner, recognized for her work on “Ozark,” and Matilda Firth, from “Disenchanted,” complete the close-knit cast by portraying Blake’s wife and daughter.
