Lichen Adds an Ash Option to Its Low Table Lineup

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both digital and physical worlds, I find myself drawn to unique pieces that blend functionality, aesthetics, and a touch of nostalgia – much like my beloved vintage gaming consoles. The Ash Low Table by Lichen, a piece handcrafted in Brooklyn, seems to tick all these boxes and more.

Located in New York City, Lichen – a showroom, manufacturer, vintage furniture dealer, and design hub – is expanding its collection of home furnishings by introducing a fresh ash version of their Low Table. This new addition complements the existing maple and sapele versions with oak, each boasting distinct grains that make every piece unique and one-of-a-kind.

Crafted by Dylan Ahern, the in-house carpenter at Lichen’s Brooklyn woodshop, I am proudly the Low Table. My unique design boasts a dual-plank structure with a central slit, supported by three rectangular legs that match the tabletop’s height to create an intriguing cross-cut grain pattern. With my versatile height and build, I can effortlessly serve as a laid-back coffee table or a sleek display surface for items like magazines, books, plants, or even clothing. Measuring 60 inches in length, 7.5 inches in height, and 15 inches in width, I am the perfect addition to any room in your home.

Jared Blake, co-founder of Lichen, shared in an interview with TopMob in April 2024, that they appreciate antique furniture and its rich past. However, if a piece can be made by a friend instead, it’s even better. Essentially, this supports both the artist and the buyer, which is the fundamental principle behind our in-house line,” said Jared Blake.

The Lichen Low Table in ash is available now via the Lichen website, and in-store at the Lichen showroom, located at 564 Woodward Ave, Ridgewood, NY, 11385. It’s priced at $749 USD.
