‘Life & Beth’ Canceled After Two Seasons on Hulu

As a long-time fan of Amy Schumer and her unique brand of humor, I was really looking forward to seeing more of her personal experiences brought to life in “Life & Beth.” Having followed her career since her stand-up days, I’ve come to appreciate her ability to turn her own life’s ups and downs into relatable and entertaining content.

It’s the end of the line for Life & Beth.

Hulu has decided not to renew “Amy Schumer’s dramedy,” which stars and was created by Amy Schumer, for a third season. The latest episode aired on Hulu, owned by Disney, in February, marking the series finale.

The show centers around Beth (Schumer), an accomplished woman with a desirable career and a stylish apartment in New York, as well as a boyfriend named Kevin Kane. However, she starts to feel unfulfilled with her current situation. In the initial episode, she describes Kevin as a “New York eight.” After returning to her Long Island roots, Beth ponders over starting anew and forms a connection with a local man named Michael Cera.

As a big fan of “Life & Beth” created by and starring Amy Schumer, I can tell you that this show holds a special place in my heart because it’s deeply rooted in Schumer’s own experiences. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter during the second season release, she playfully mentioned that only about 30% of the series is purely fictional. The rest is a blend of her real-life events, personal conversations, and creative contributions from the show’s writers and actors. It’s a fascinating amalgamation of everyone’s lives, making each episode relatable and captivating.

Typically, Hulu doesn’t share viewing statistics for “Life & Beth,” just like most other streaming platforms. The series didn’t make it into Nielsen’s top 10 streaming rankings in any of its two seasons.

After the termination of “Life & Beth,” Hulu’s live-action comedy lineup now consists of “Only Murders in the Building,” “UnPrisoned,” and “The Bear,” as well as upcoming productions such as “How to Die Alone,” “Murray Hill,” and “Chad Powers.” In the meantime, Schumer is moving forward with her Netflix film, titled “Kinda Pregnant.”
