Lil Yachty Surprises With New Solo Cut “Let’s Get On Dey Ass”

As a long-time fan of Lil Yachty and someone who has witnessed his evolution in the rap game since his debut, I have to say that “Let’s Get On Dey Ass” is a welcome return to form for the Atlanta native. It’s been too long since we’ve heard an unapologetic banger from Yachty, and this single delivers just that.

It’s been a while since Lil Yachty released a solo project, except for the song “Lil Mega Minion” connected to the Minions movie last month. Following his collaboration album with James Blake titled “Bad Cameo,” and the rising popularity of Concrete Boys in mainstream rap, Yachty has dropped his first studio single since “A Cold Sunday.” This new track, named “Let’s Get On Dey Ass,” is full of energy.

With a rhythmic backdrop created by Cardo and Kyudo, “Let’s Get On Dey Ass” brings back memories of early Yachty. The artist delivers swift rhymes in a continuous stream, punctuated by numerous monosyllabic exclamations.

As a hip hop music enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the genre’s rich and diverse lyricism, I find the lines “Throw money up in the eco (Mm) / Shootin’ that b*tch like a free throw / Maybach since I was a Migo (What?) / My brother, my twin, Cardo,” particularly captivating due to their raw and authentic expression of wealth, success, and camaraderie.

As a fan, I’d describe it like this: The track’s vibe from 2020 shines through in the music video. And to make it even more special, Boat invites his whole Concrete Boys crew. It’s a classic, vibrant Yachty production with The Boys dressed head-to-toe in matching outfits for the three-minute visual masterpiece directed by Zhamak Fullad.
