As a long-time fan of Broadway and Hollywood, I can hardly contain my excitement for the second annual “Stars in the House” Election Day Vote-A-Thon! With Lin-Manuel Miranda, Martin Short, Rosie Perez, Wayne Brady, and a plethora of other talented stars joining forces, this live event promises to be an unforgettable experience. The combination of musical performances, support for the Entertainment Community Fund, and the chance to stay informed about the election while being entertained is simply too enticing to resist!
On Tuesday, November 5th, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Martin Short, Rosie Perez, Wayne Brady, and other notable personalities will unite with hosts Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley Jackson for the second consecutive “Stars in the House” Election Day Marathon of Voting.
The entertainment event is scheduled to unfold between midday and 6 PM Eastern Time, offering music performances and contributing towards the Entertainment Community Fund.
Overwhelmed by the responses to our Vote-A-Thon event in 2020, we felt inspired to keep the momentum going. We want to create a space where people can find respite from Election Day tension yet remain informed and most importantly, be entertained! Our live event is designed to fill your time while waiting in line at the polls or for results. We’re thrilled to welcome those from our community who will be sharing their voting stories and performing lively music and dance numbers!” (The hosts said in a joint statement)
The gathering also features Jessie Mueller, Shoshana Bean, Judy Kuhn, J. Harrison Ghee, Anika Larsen, Emily Skinner, Andrea Martin, Will Swenson, Brad Oscar, Javier Muñoz, Peri Gilpin, Merle Dandridge, as well as actors from the original Broadway production of Hairspray and performers from the cast of Glee, along with several others.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “After a tough few years due to pandemic-related work interruptions, artists and entertainers are still finding their footing. Fortunately, the Entertainment Community Fund is stepping up to provide aid for those in need. The ongoing success of ‘Stars in the House’, launched in March 2020 by Seth and James, has kept our focus on helping others. Their creative and engaging efforts have been a beacon of hope and inspiration, and we can’t thank them enough.
During the entire event, Broadway Votes will regularly provide hosts and viewers with election updates and interesting facts, as stated in a press release. Additionally, Joy to the Polls will assist Rudetsky and Jackson in highlighting surprise musical performances happening at voting locations in North Carolina, Arizona, and Pennsylvania.
Since its debut in March 2020, George Clooney, Jean Smart, Lisa Kudrow, Norman Lear, Ben Stiller, Kerry Washington, Chandra Wilson, Annette Bening, Leslie Uggams, Audra McDonald, and Billy Porter are some of the celebrities who have graced the show. Additionally, numerous casts from various TV shows and movies have reunited for “Stars in the House,” such as those from Night at the Museum, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, The West Wing, Melrose Place, 30 Rock, and White Collar.
