Linda Hamilton has admitted Terminator: Dark Fate was “kind of underwritten.”
In the 2019 action hit movie, the 68-year-old actress once again played Sarah Connor. However, she recently admitted that the film’s director, Tim Miller, might have benefited from more time to emphasize the “humane” aspects of the plot.
In conversation with ComicBook.com, she expressed that there were some particularly poignant or emotionally intense scenes in the last installment which she felt could have been given a bit more screen time for greater impact.
The piece seemed to be hastily put together, and it appeared as though Tim felt certain parts lacked proper structure… I simply felt it could have been slowed down slightly, offering our audience a bit more insight into the human side.
Pondering over Sarah Connor’s influence on popular culture, Hamilton expressed astonishment at the multitude of individuals inspired by this action heroine. He went on to characterize her as a “female protagonist battling through adversity,” a fitting description that encapsulates her struggle in the narrative.
She pondered, “It’s always intriguing to me how many people aspire to be like Sarah Connor… Yet, isn’t she a deeply troubled individual?
She’s dealing with so many uncertainties, and it seems as though she doesn’t want to resemble Sarah Connor, who appears to be suffering greatly.
I’ve always found it intriguing how people strive to imitate her, yet she’s merely a woman enduring her own personal torment.
In the thrilling action-packed movie, “Terminator: Dark Fate,” I found myself captivated by the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger alongside Mackenzie Davis and Edward Furlong. This time, a formidable new Terminator is dispatched with a chilling mission: to eliminate a young woman whose survival holds the crucial destiny of mankind’s future.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I find myself drawn into the gripping tale where I team up with Sarah Connor, a resilient woman, and a technologically advanced warrior, in a relentless battle for our lives.
After starring in “Terminator: Dark Fate” (her first appearance as Sarah Connor since “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” in 1991), the actress firmly declared that she had no interest in continuing with the franchise and preferred not to reprise her role as the action heroine again.
In a conversation with Business Insider regarding the future of the Terminator series, she expressed that she has no further involvement or comments, as the storyline has already been fully developed and extensively explored.
Previously, director and producer James Cameron discussed plans for a new version of the Terminator franchise, however, as per Hamilton’s viewpoint, there seems to be little value in resurrecting the series yet again.
She expressed: “I can’t fathom why someone would reintroduce it, but our current Hollywood scene seems to thrive on reboots.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, famously known as The Terminator, expressed his intention to step away from the series after the release of “Terminator: Dark Fate”.
He informed The Hollywood Reporter, “The series isn’t over; I am. I received the clear message that the world is ready for a new theme in Terminator.
It’s essential that we generate an outstanding concept. The movie “The Terminator” played a significant role in my achievements, so I hold it dear to me.
I found the first three films fantastic. The fourth one, titled ‘Salvation’, I couldn’t be a part of since I was serving as governor at the time. In my opinion, neither five, ‘Genisys’, nor six, ‘Dark Fate’, managed to deliver satisfactorily. This was something we anticipated due to their weak scriptwriting.
