As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for 2000s cinema and a particular fondness for Lindsay Lohan, I must say that seeing her reunite with her Mean Girls co-star Tim Meadows in Our Little Secret was nothing short of delightful. The holiday rom-com, which quickly climbed the Netflix streaming charts, was reminiscent of the warm, fuzzy feelings we all got from watching the original Mean Girls back in the day.
In the recently released Netflix holiday film “Our Little Secret,” Lindsay Lohan collaborates once more with one of her co-stars from the movie “Mean Girls.” This reunion may have gone unnoticed by some viewers, but die-hard fans of the 2004 film directed by Mark Waters would surely recognize it. In this new romantic comedy, Lohan plays Avery, a woman who finds herself in a puzzling holiday predicament involving her ex. It turns out that when Avery encounters her boyfriend’s family, led by the amusing Kristin Chenoweth as matriarch Erica, she is taken aback to learn that her ex, Logan (played by Ian Harding from “Pretty Little Liars”), is dating her boyfriend’s sister. Tim Meadows portrays Stan, a friend of Erica’s family.
Previously, Meadows and Lohan have shared screen time in a film this year, but not on the same scene. They both featured in the 2021 adaptation of “Mean Girls” the musical, with Meadows reprising his role as Mr. Duvall from North Shore High School and Lohan appearing as the Mathletes competition moderator. In a recent interview for Netflix’s Tudum regarding their upcoming film, “Our Little Secret,” they talked about their experience reuniting for this holiday feature.
Meadows expressed his delight at seeing her once more, adding that the pleasant surprise was discovering our mutual enjoyment of each other’s company. To top it off, she even suggested taking a picture together before anything else!
Lohan called their reunion “a full circle moment,” adding:
“Tim is truly an exceptional individual, and it’s always a pleasure to be in his company. There were instances when we shared hearty laughter that simply wouldn’t cease.
Holiday Features Rule the Netflix Streaming Charts
The movie titled “Our Little Secret” premiered on Netflix on November 27, swiftly climbing to the highest spot in the streaming rankings. It’s the festive season, and other Christmas-themed films are also thriving on the platform, such as: The Merry Gentlemen (featuring Lohan’s co-star from Freaky Friday, Chad Michael Murray), The Christmas Chronicles, and Hot Frosty (headed by Mean Girls actress Lacey Chabert). With Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert currently starring in Netflix holiday rom-coms, one can’t help but wonder if a Christmas movie featuring both ladies might be on the horizon. The two actresses reunited (alongside Amanda Seyfried, Rajiv Surendra, and Daniel Franzese) for an unforgettable Black Friday Walmart ad last year. Both Lohan and Chabert spoke highly of the experience: Chabert described it as a “valuable memory” and “very special,” while Lohan expressed her enjoyment of catching up with everyone. Here’s hoping!
As a movie connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that next year, you’ll find me once again in the presence of some familiar faces from one of my cherished films of yore: Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Murray, and Mark Harmon. We’re reuniting for the sequel to the 2003 classic, “Freaky Friday,” titled “Freakier Friday.” The movie is set to hit the big screen on August 8, 2025. Can’t wait!
Hailey DeDominicis penned the screenplay for “Our Little Secret,” which was directed by Stephen Herek, best known for “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” The cast features Jon Rudnitsky, Judy Reyes, Henry Czerny, Chris Parnell, and Dan Bucatinsky alongside Lohan, Harding, Chenoweth, and Meadows.
