Lisa Vanderpump Teases ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Reboot: “Totally Different”

As a long-time fan of Vanderpump Rules, it’s bittersweet to see the original cast moving on to new ventures while simultaneously welcoming a fresh batch of drama-filled individuals into the SUR family. The show has been a staple in my reality TV diet for years, and I can’t help but feel nostalgic as I bid adieu to the familiar faces that have graced our screens since 2013.

Lisa Vanderpump recently revealed fresh insights regarding the forthcoming revamp of Vanderpump Rules, following Bravo’s announcement that the reality show is set to debut an entirely novel cast in its twelfth season.

The reality star told E! News that the cast shake-up will bring “a different energy” to the long-running series, which premiered in 2013 with original cast members Vanderpump, Kristen Doute, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Shay and Jax Taylor. The outgoing cast includes Maloney, Sandoval and Shay, along with Lala Kent, Ariana Madix, Tom Schwartz and James Kennedy. (Doute and Taylor are now starring on spinoff series The Valley, while Schroeder is set to launch her own Hulu series with Vanderpump.)

Vanderpump stated at the unveiling of her new eatery Pinky’s by Vanderpump at Flamingo Las Vegas, ‘We won’t strive to mimic the old ‘Vanderpump Rules’, instead, it will offer a fresh and unique experience. We’ll continue exploring the intricate aspects of managing a restaurant and its staff, which always provides an interesting narrative.’

Vanderpump expressed that working alongside the previous cast members, such as Maloney, Sandoval, Madix, Shay, Schwartz, Kennedy, and Kent (with Rachel Leviss’ departure following “Scandoval”), was a delightful experience, but she felt it was the right moment to explore new directions for the reality series, which has consistently ranked among Bravo’s top-rated shows.

The stories seemed to wind down somewhat. It’s not surprising that we chose to make this move, I believe,” the SUR owner commented on the aftermath of seasons 10 and 11. She further mentioned that she had come to appreciate them all deeply.

“I’ll miss the whole group,” Vanderpump, who is an executive producer, concluded.

Back in November, Bravo officially revealed that Vanderpump Rules would be returning with an entirely fresh cast. This announcement arrived several months following the series’ turbulence due to Scandoval – the high-profile infidelity scandal involving Sandoval, Madix, and Leviss. The incident not only spiked ratings but also evoked passionate responses from fans.

Under the watchful gaze of Lisa Vanderpump, the famous establishments SUR and now TomTom in West Hollywood are preparing to hire a new group of servers, hosts, and bartenders, who bring with them a lot of drama, romantic entanglements, and friendships that could be more complicated than they seem,” the network stated at the time.

According to earlier reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Shay, Schwartz, Kent, and Shay’s husband Brock Davies are set to feature in the upcoming season of Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley. An insider revealed that the possibility exists for the entire cast to appear on The Valley, Vanderpump Rules, or even within the broader Bravoverse.

Alex Baskin, the executive producer of “Vanderpump Rules,” expressed his excitement back then about continuing the show’s legacy by saying it was a “thrilling” opportunity for them to start anew.

Baskin expressed gratitude towards the pioneering team and their memorable journey. We’re excited for spectators to witness a vibrant ensemble of colleagues and companions navigating life as they progress together,” said Baskin.

Production for the next season of “Vanderpump Rules” is set to start in 2025, but as of now, we don’t know who the new cast members will be or when it’s scheduled to air.
