‘Little House on the Prairie’ Rebooted at Netflix

The 19th century Ingalls family is getting a 21st century TV life.

Netflix has commissioned a fresh take on the “Little House on the Prairie” series, which is over 40 years since the original adaptation based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s cherished books concluded its run on NBC. This new interpretation hails from the creative mind of showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for her work in “The Boys” and “The Vampire Diaries.

Jinny Howe, vice president of drama series at Netflix, shared her enthusiasm about reviving ‘Little House on the Prairie’, a story that has touched the hearts of countless fans globally. The timeless messages of hope and positivity will be reinterpreted in a modern light, promised Jinny. Rebecca’s creative approach promises to bring a new level of emotional resonance that will captivate both old and new admirers of this cherished tale.

Sonnenshine will oversee the production of “Little House” alongside Joy Gorman Wettels of Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly of Friendly Family Productions, Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel. The series originates from CBS Studios and Anonymous Content Studios. It’s worth noting that Trip Friendly is the son of Ed Friendly, who was an executive producer for the original series that aired from 1974 to 1983 and produced several follow-up TV movies.
