Little Simz to Guest Curate Tate Modern Lates

As a long-time admirer of British art and culture, I can hardly contain my excitement for Little Simz’s takeover of the Tate Modern Lates series! Growing up in London, I’ve always been captivated by the city’s vibrant artistic scene, and the opportunity to immerse myself in such an eclectic mix of workshops, discussions, and performances is nothing short of a dream come true.

British hip-hop artist Little Simz has been chosen to be the next guest organizer for the Tate Modern’s Lates series of late-night events. This program, initiated in 2016, offers a blend of talks, music performances, workshops, and events. Previous curators have included BBZ London collective, Canadian artist Megan Rooney, and others like Floating Points and Nabihah Iqbal with their DJ sets. Additional artists featured include these two as well as various others.

“Jessye Bloomfield, the creative producer of Tate Modern Lates, stated to Artnet that since its debut in 2016, these events have become a significant pillar supporting London’s vibrant artistic nightlife. This upcoming series features Little Simz, showcasing an exceptional roster that honors London’s creative community and the artists and collectives who motivate her.”

On this special evening, starting at 6pm and lasting until 10pm, Simz will command the scene at the institution. The event kicks off with three creative workshops led by writer Caroline Adeyemi in the Blavatnik building, followed by bodywork sessions conducted by artist Fiona Quadri and movement expert Ayanna Birch. Additionally, a dance class led by Kloé Dean, Simz’ choreographer, will take place in the South Tank. This unforgettable night promises a wealth of artistic exploration!

Tate Lates admission is complimentary, but it’s essential to confirm your attendance ahead of time. The gathering happens on Saturday, the 31st of August, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
