Live-Action How to Train Your Dragon Soars to Greater Heights in New Trailer (WATCH)

Enthusiasts of the animated film “How to Train Your Dragon” got their initial full-length trailer for director Dean DeBlois’ live-action remake (set to release in theaters this summer). For the first time, characters such as Hiccup, Astrid, Stoick, Gobber, and others were made real by actual actors, creating a visually stunning trailer that you won’t want to miss.

DeBlois, who collaborated with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel in producing the film, was ideally suited to lead the live-action adaptation of DreamWorks Animation’s cherished fantasy realm. This is because he, along with co-director Chris Sanders, initiated the beloved franchise in 2010 (with the movie “The Wild Robot”), and later assumed full writing and directing responsibilities for the two subsequent films.

In this revised version, Mason Thames plays the main role in the hit production as Hiccup (previously voiced by Jay Baruchel), a shy Viking boy. Over time, he manages to break a centuries-old feud between his people and dragons, after earning the confidence of a dragon named Toothless that he has nicknamed.

In the new movie, Gerard Butler reprises his role as Hiccup’s brave father, Chief Stoick the Vast, while Nico Parker plays Astrid and Nick Frost portrays Gobber. Joining them are Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz (BAFTA nominee), and Murray McArthur, who all share screen time with the main cast.

DeBlois expresses his enthusiasm for revisiting the movie “How to Train Your Dragon“, stating it offered a unique chance to direct a live-action adaptation as well as reconnect with a universe he found captivating. He admits to missing the characters and the world, appreciating films that convey profound messages. According to him, the story revolves around an ordinary child forming a bond with a powerful creature, which holds a universal appeal. However, at its heart, this narrative is essentially about discovering one’s voice and mustering courage to adhere to personal beliefs in a world pushing for conformity.
