Babil Khan made a comeback to cinema with the cyber thriller drama film titled Logout, which is now streaming on Zee5. This movie explores the terrifying aspects of the digital realm and its impact on people’s lives. Interestingly, the young actor confessed that his parents were against him growing up in the digital age. As a result, Babil only had a ‘dabba phone‘ until he turned 22 years old. In a conversation with Filmibeat, Babil Khan, son of Irrfan Khan and Sutapa Sikdar, disclosed that his upbringing deviated significantly from the norm. His parents were firm about shielding him from a digital childhood. The actor from Qala elaborated that he spent his early years in an area near a forest, followed by Madh Island. Later, he attended a non-traditional school, where no plastic was permitted and everything was made of wood.
Instead of being engrossed in their digital gadgets like many young people today, he only had a simple phone up until his mid-twenties. “I was still using a feature phone when I was 21 or 22,” The Railway Men actor explained. In the same interview, he acknowledged that although he doesn’t let himself get consumed by social media and tries to avoid the digital realm, he gained valuable insights about society during his work on Logout.
In simpler terms, Babil discovered that social media should be seen as a creative outlet rather than a means to validate oneself. He emphasized that this insight came from his personal experiences with social media and encouraged others to consider it in the same light.
Moving forward, Babil discussed his role in Amit Golani’s movie. Irrfan Khan’s son admitted that he often chooses characters and stories that seem distant from him. He explained this choice by stating that every person contains a range of characteristics, so he seeks roles that are different from his real-life self to portray on screen.
