As a seasoned film enthusiast with a deep affection for Middle Earth and its enchanting tales, I must say that the recent news about the expansion of the Lord of the Rings franchise has left me utterly elated! Growing up, the original trilogy was like a magical journey that transported me to an entirely different world.
As a die-hard film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that we’re embarking on this epic journey once more, venturing back into the captivating world of Middle Earth. The curtain has been lifted, and it turns out another live-action Lord of the Rings film is being crafted alongside an enthralling spin-off titled The Hunt for Gollum. In an exclusive chat with Empire, screenwriter Philippa Boyens has spilled the beans, clarifying a previous misunderstanding that led many, including Sir Ian McKellen himself, to assume that The Hunt for Gollum would be split into two movies. Instead, it appears there’s another standalone movie brewing in the works. The tale of The Hunt for Gollum promises an intense and gripping storyline, making us eagerly anticipate this cinematic adventure.
“I can tell you definitively it isn’t two films! That was a genuine misunderstanding that happened because we’ve begun to work, conceptually, on two different live-action films. The first being The Hunt For Gollum, the second one still to be confirmed.
It’s quite an intense story, which falls after the birthday party of Bilbo and before the Mines Of Moria. It’s a specific chunk of incredible untold story, told through the perspective of this incredible creature.”
Additionally, Boyens discloses that Gandalf will have a significant role in the growing fantasy series in the future. This might be why the esteemed actor became perplexed about his character’s involvement.
We’re exploring several concepts, and it’s quite likely that Gandalf will be part of them. Therefore, there’s a strong possibility that we’ll see Gandalf in two upcoming live-action movies.
The Lord of the Rings Franchise Is Growing Fast
Beyond that, Boyens further mentions that if the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” anime titled “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” performs well in cinemas, they have a fantastic concept ready for another anime series, which he describes as an “absolute hit.
She hints, “Our next movie could make a fantastic anime! However, we’ll only proceed if the audience seems interested.
This story is still developing. Please check back for more.
