The high-spirited action-comedy featuring Academy Award-winning stars Ke Huy Quan from “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and Ariana DeBose of “West Side Story”, titled “Love Hurts“, will be streaming on Peacock starting next month.
As a devotee, I had the privilege of being part of a breathtaking project helmed by the seasoned stunt designer, Jonathan Eusebio. This production was born under the esteemed 87North Productions label, renowned for epic films like John Wick, Violent Night, Nobody, The Fall Guy, and Bullet Train. In this thrilling tale, Quan takes on the role of Marvin Gable, a seemingly peaceful Milwaukee real estate agent concealing a fiercely criminal past. However, his tranquil life is disrupted when an old acquaintance named Rose (DeBose) unexpectedly re-enters his world.
Eusebio expressed in an official statement during the release that he aimed to pay tribute to 87North’s distinctive fusion of intensity and ingenuity, while also delving into the emotional intricacies of a man compelled to face his past. The narrative takes cues from the martial arts movies I was raised on, with fight choreography that adapts as Gable’s journey progresses. Each battle scene is distinct, beginning with lighter, more playful exchanges that grow increasingly intense and visceral as Gable’s emotional state shifts. The action serves as a reflection of his internal struggle.

Love Hurts will make its exclusive streaming debut on Peacock Friday, May 9.
