Vijayta Pandit openly discussed her previous relationship with her first acting partner, Kumar Gaurav, during a chat with Lehren Retro. Their careers took off swiftly after their debut movie “Love Story”. In this interview, the actress addressed gossip about her role in ending Kumar Gaurav’s engagement to Reema Jain, Raj Kapoor’s daughter. Additionally, Pandit shared that Kumar had pledged to marry her even while she was engaged to Jain and also disclosed that they both developed feelings for each other.
She shared that Kumar Gaurav, whom she fondly referred to as Bunty, was the first boy she danced with on set during the filming of Love Story. She pointed out that numerous romantic films, like Bobby, Betaab, and Rocky, included actors who experienced real-life romance, which significantly influenced their acting. She went on to explain how Bunty’s feelings for her were sincere; he was always attentive, often taking her hand and dancing with her, and was quite endearing.
Nevertheless, his father, Rajendra Kumar, who was also the film’s producer, disliked their relationship. He often voiced his disappointment over drinks and insisted that Bunty should marry a woman from a prominent family. This worried her, but Bunty would frequently argue with his father, declaring his love for her.
She went on explaining how Rajendra Kumar, moved by Bunty’s strong feelings for him, organized for Kumar Gaurav to become engaged to Reema Jain, daughter of Raj Kapoor. At the engagement ceremony, she marveled at the big diamond ring given to Reema. Upon her complimenting its beauty, Bunty became upset, shouting he would toss the ring away if she didn’t approve. This outburst unsettled her, causing her to depart.
In spite of being engaged, Bunty persistently visited her, but she never reciprocated by going to his house. This situation caused great concern for her parents, and they contemplated seeking help from Rajendra Kumar to keep Bunty away. However, Bunty, in his engagement, expressed his wish to marry her, which her mother deemed an impossibility.
It turned out that Bunty wasn’t faithful to Reema; he was already seeing Namrata Dutt. This revelation led to him calling off their engagement, leaving Reema heartbroken. However, it’s important to note that Reema had no role in this unfortunate turn of events.
