'Lover of Men' Documentary Explores Abraham Lincoln's Purported Bisexuality

As a cinephile with a keen interest in American history and an appreciation for films that delve into lesser-known aspects of historical figures, I am thrilled about the upcoming documentary, “Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln.” Having watched countless depictions of Lincoln throughout my film-viewing years, from the classic 1939 film “Abe Lincoln in Illinois” to more recent portrayals like Daniel Day-Lewis’ Academy Award-winning performance in “Lincoln,” I am excited to see a new perspective on this iconic figure.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled about the upcoming documentary titled “Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln.” This fascinating exploration delves into the profound relationships our esteemed former President had with the men in his life. Notably, Special Occasion Studios, the film’s producers, have joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

This discussion holds significant weight, given the critical juncture our country finds itself at – approaching a pivotal election where fundamental liberties, such as the right to love freely and express one’s identity openly, are at stake.

This documentary showcases an array of scholars, authors, and investigators, previously unseen images, and correspondence, delving deeper into the history of human sexual fluidity. In simpler terms, the film presents a vital untold chapter in American history, encouraging viewers to question our narrow perspectives on human sexuality. Lover Of Men goes beyond exploring gender roles and identities; it also scrutinizes the intolerance prevalent in America.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the documentary I’m involved with is helmed by Shaun Peterson and co-produced by Robert Rosenheck. It’s an honor to be working alongside the Human Rights Campaign, a pioneering American civil rights organization championing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer rights. Rosenheck mentioned that collaborating with them on the release of “Lover of Men” was truly inspiring. He emphasized that equality is an essential component of the American Dream, a value he holds dear.

“Equality is at the heart of the American dream, and it is equality that guided Lincoln’s vision. HRC’s fearless fight for equality is inspiring to us, and we are honored to partner with them on the release of Lover of Men.”

He’s appeared in numerous films and television shows since the beginning of cinema, but his most significant role is as Lincoln (2012), directed by renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg, which centered around the passing of the 13th amendment.
