Lupita Nyong’o Dressed As Storm For Halloween, And Now I’m Gonna Need To See Her Play The Marvel Character Next

As a longtime Marvel fan who has witnessed the evolution of these iconic characters on the big screen, I can confidently say that Lupita Nyong’o would make a phenomenal Storm for the MCU. With her captivating performance as Nakia in the Black Panther franchise, it’s evident that she possesses the acting chops to bring the weather-controlling mutant to life.

Lupita Nyong’o gained recognition in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by portraying Nakia, T’Challa’s love interest in the initial “Black Panther” film, and reprising her role in the follow-up “Wakanda Forever.” Her skill at action scenes as a War Dogs member suggests she could be formidable, but I envision her truly dominating as Storm. Her Halloween costume as Storm further demonstrates her potential for this role, leading me to make another fan casting suggestion!

Celebrities really brought their A-game with great costumes for Halloween this year like Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter and Sophie Turner going full Matrix. And we can’t forget about Heidi Klum (who always puts effort into her Halloween costumes) dressed as E.T. But one Halloween costume that’s giving me major fan-casting vibes is seeing Lupita Nyong’o dressed as X-Men’s Storm at the opening of the Off-Broadway musical Teeth. Take a look at this chilling Instagram video of her below and I dare you to tell me she can’t pull off the Marvel character next:

Lupita Nyong’o’s intriguing video displays her meticulously washing her hands in her Storm outfit. The elegant black velvet tuxedo jacket, the striking white hairpiece, and the elongated, immaculate white nails suggest that she is not a superhero to be trifled with. Moreover, the pristine white contact lenses add an eerily captivating element to her overall appearance. Remarkably, even while performing a seemingly mundane task such as washing her hands during her leisure time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe actress manages to embody her character.

I’ve got to say that the idea of Lupita Nyong’o being the next Storm for the MCU would be perfect. While Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp did a great job portraying the weather-channeling mutant, the Us actress would surely achieve the same results. It never made sense to me why Storm was always pushed aside as a side character. Considering she can control Mother Nature, an element considered beyond control by any means, Storm deserves to be the Wolverine of the MCU next with her own solo movie or origin story. Plus, Nyong’o and the X-Men member are both Kenyan descendants which is another reason she can give an authentic portrayal.

Following Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine reappearance in “Deadpool and Wolverine,” it could pave the way for other X-Men characters to potentially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). For instance, Patrick Stewart made a cameo as Xavier in “Doctor Strange 2” and “Ms. Marvel” revealed Kamala Khan as the MCU’s first mutant. Moreover, the end credits scene of “The Marvels” hinted at Kelsey Grammer’s Beast’s return and introduced Binary. Since Mutants seem to be gradually entering the Marvel Universe, let’s hope that Storm will eventually join the group as well.

Looking at Lupita Nyong’o portraying Storm for Halloween is more than enough evidence to convince us that she should reprise her role as the powerful Mutant character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Given her diverse acting skills and the shared African heritage with the X-Men superhero, I am confident she would bring the role to life brilliantly. In the meantime, enjoy watching Black Panther and X-Men movies that are accessible through your Disney+ subscription.
