Mac Miller's Unreleased 'Ballonerism' Album Announced at Camp Flog Gnaw

As a gamer who’s been around since the golden age of hip-hop, this news about Mac Miller’s unreleased album, “Ballonerism,” has me feeling like I just found a rare, hidden item in a game of Grand Theft Auto. The anticipation is real, and it’s been a long time coming for us die-hard fans.

It is anticipated that an unpublished track by Mac Miller will be released shortly following its preview at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival held in Los Angeles this past weekend.

A brief teaser video for the upcoming project called Ballonerism, which aired during the performance breaks between Sampha and Alchemist & Friends, displayed animations and what appeared to be the album cover, with the message “soon” shown alongside a Miller painting by artist Alim Smith – a piece previously shared on Instagram in September 2018. Fans have been eagerly waiting for Ballonerism, as it was said to have been recorded before Miller’s 2014 mixtape Faces. There are whispers that Thundercat may have contributed to the project, but several songs from the album were already released in 2020 and included tracks with SZA and Dylan Reynolds.

The upcoming album, released after Mac Miller’s passing, will be his second posthumous work. Check out the fan-captured trailer below. As of now, no specific release date has been announced.
