As a seasoned gamer who’s been around since the golden age of hip-hop, I must say that the re-release of MF DOOM and Madlib’s “Accordion” and “Rhinestone Cowboy” in 4K is like upgrading from an Atari 2600 to a PlayStation 5 – it’s nothing short of mind-blowing!
The classic tracks “Accordion” and “Rhinestone Cowboy” by MF DOOM and Madlib, also known as Madvillain, have been restored to stunning high-definition quality, now available in 4K resolution.
The director, Andrew Gura, has remastered the music videos for both the original and newly discovered DV files. The videos for “Accordion” and “Rhinestone Cowboy” were released in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic joint album, Madvillainy, as well as its special vinyl LP releases, including the Demos and Audiophile Edition.
The Demos LP will listen to the demo songs from the album on vinyl for the first time since they were initially released on cassette in 2008 as part of a box set, and then again in September 2013 during the first-ever Cassette Store Day. In contrast, the Audiophile Edition serves as a tribute to the final recording and has been re-mastered at 45rpm and pressed onto 180g vinyl.
