Maharaj actor Jaideep Ahlawat recalls why he decided not to travel by bus in Mumbai during his initial days; 'Beshak ek roti kam khalunga...'

As a lifestyle expert who appreciates the journey of artists in Bollywood, I must say that Jaideep Ahlawat’s story resonates deeply with me. His determination and resilience in navigating the bustling city of Mumbai during his initial days are truly inspiring. The decision to forgo a chapatti to avoid traveling by bus speaks volumes about his commitment to his craft and his willpower.

Jaideep Ahlawat, who appeared most recently in Junaid Khan’s first film, Maharaj, this year, has been involved with Hindi cinema for more than a decade. His major breakthrough came in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012. This actor graduated from the Film & Television Institute of India and made his entry into Bollywood towards the end of the 2000s. The star of Maharaj, Jaideep, recently shared the reason behind his decision not to travel by bus in Mumbai during his early days. In an effort to cut down on one roti from his meal, he chose not to take the bus.

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Jaideep Ahlawat was asked to share some memories from his early days living in Mumbai. He mentioned that while he didn’t dislike that period of his life, he did find traveling within the city challenging.

Actor Jaideep, known for his role as Maharaj, spoke about his commuting ordeal while working and recalling an instance where he took the bus to save money. Every day, he traveled from Malad to Infiniti Mall, but often found himself soaked in sweat during the journey.

Jaideep referred to the activity as an “ordinary workout,” mentioning that he tends to sweat profusely. The actor emphasized that being in Mumbai involves dealing with both heavy rains and intense heatwaves.

In the bus, I had sat down and made up my mind not to travel by it ever again. However, I may need to cut back on a piece of bread from my meal, but I simply cannot manage that, the actor from Paatal Lok stated.

In a subsequent conversation, the actor from Raazi revealed that after becoming drenched in sweat, he’d spend around thirty minutes lounging at the mall before resuming his trip. Contrary to what one might expect, Jaideep didn’t let these experiences dampen his spirits but instead maintained a positive outlook on his journey.

In 2008, Jaideep Ahlawat completed his acting degree at FTII alongside fellow students Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Varma. Following this, he made his debut in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar’s Khatta Meetha and Ajay Devgn-led Aakrosh, both released in 2010.

Jaideep gained significant recognition for portraying Hathi Ram Chaudhary in the 2020 web series, “Paatal Lok,” produced by Anushka Sharma. Notably, he has also appeared in films such as Raazi, Jaane Jaan, and An Action Hero.
